Is using Schoop instead of Granderson there the first IGT criticism of Counsell since the playoffs started that basically everyone hated? Seems like it.

Hader can and should go 3-4 innings. All the more reason to use Granderson though, because you might let Hader hit and then that's one less PH you need. So you didn't have to force Schoop in there.

Do you throw Hader until his arm falls off or he gets in trouble? I mean, being dramatic, but 60 pitches? 75 pitches?

That’d be my mindset. No tomorrow. All that special schedule stuff (which worked well up to this point) is out the window when it’s do or die.

I don't get why we didn't use Grandy. It's not like they were going to pull Buehler, and now they'll just use a lefty later when we want to use Grandy and waste him.

Wouldn't Grandy be the CF if Cain were to get hurt? No Broxton in this series.

Yelich would move to CF in that scenario.

Yep. They could always put Santana or Perez in the OF. They are a catcher injury away from Perez behind the plate in half the games they play. That's not a reason not to PH Grandy, who has played no CF for us.

What it boils down to is cc probably still has faith or something in schoop.

As long as he's effective and not in imminent risk of injury there's really no limit. If he starts to lose it you have to move on to the next guy just like with anyone else.

Disliked ... but we all get the fact that may have been the best shot he had to get a hit vs a fastball cause he sure can’t hit anything else lol. And you don’t want to burn your good PH’s early that’s for sure ! It’s a move you can maybe not love but understand

Feel like the ump has been pretty fair with the zone so far.

I think CC viewed it as the least important ph situation because of the inning, so he used his worst ph

Well I guess hader pitching this early is already a win with Pederson out and Hernandez in. And then now bleh.

That is an absolutely frustrating AB by Yelich. You hit a homer off the guy in the first, see if you can get into a long count and maybe draw a walk. Really think Buehler is going to pump a bunch of pitches down the middle. Man would have like to see patience there.

Yelich was attacking the whole 2nd half the season early in the count.

There's no concern about burning your PH early. You're only going to use him once, and you had a chance to use him against an RHP with 2 runners on. What more do you want?

The real danger is that you don't find the right occasion to use him later (ahem, Kershaw in the pen!) and then you wake up tomorrow and realized you somehow found a way to use Jonathon Schoop in a game 7 but didn't find a plate appearance for Granderson.
