If you walk an American League pitcher, he should get to go to second. That was sad. (Yes, I know Leake spent a lot of time in the NL, still inexcusable)

I was about to type that a real 2B would make that play, but I could see Hiura putting that throw to the backstop, too. While all the headlines go to pitching issues, defense is quietly poisoning this season.

Really? You must be seeing something I'm not then. The Brewers are certainly not a top-notch defensive squad with Moose at 2B, but I haven't seen any concerning issues defensively.

I've watched about 7 pitches this game, and I can tell it's very likely to be a pitchers duel. I could drive a truck through this strike zone.

I am only watching gamecast but there have been a couple of way outside called strikes

The 1-1 pitch to Shaw was the worst one. It's like the umpire was rewarding him because he hit his spot...even though the catcher was setup off the plate.

Another one way outside to Yelich, yet Chase walks the pticher

In the last week+ it's been poor though.

Jerry Kramer interview? Am I watching a Brewers game or listening to Bill Michaels?

"Were you there when Travis Shaw hit a home run?"

Obscure Lambeau Field scoreboard video reference.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

I don't know how people hanging on the Cubs results in June make it through the year. Would absolutely exhaust me. I'd take any kind of sloppy win the Brewers can get.

Braves up 3 now on the Cubs! I got pennant fever! :)

Actually, yes I was. Just one part of my remarkable 8 game winning streak this season

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Play around with the table here https://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/MLB/2019-standard-fielding.shtml to see what I mean. The Crew is average this year in terms of fielding percentage (Moose has the 2nd most errors, if one puts stock in that kind of stat) but most of the advanced metrics look brutal for our team defense. You can even tab over to the 2018 figures to compare with last year’s stellar effort. I really think team defense is a huge missing ingredient this year, and deserves more attention.

I know a lot of people (especially Badger fans) love LePay, but there’s something about his halting voice cadence that has a “nails on chalkboard” effect on me. Fortunately for me I don’t pay that much attention to the TV commentary anyway.
