This offense is not good. Most here, believe the pitching is the issue, but, the pitching can be fixed easier than this offense, imo. A good pen arm or two would do wonders for this staff.

But how to improve this offense? Cain is a big problem, so is SS, and Aguilar, Pina. 8th in RPG, but leading in home runs, huh? I believe/hope Stearns see’s this and is able to add a bat, bring up a player from AAA, whatever, to improve this offense. Hiura is a good start. But more is needed.

Good thing we didn't trade Thames.

Yep.......glad Stearns doesn't give up on guys as quickly as some fans do.

We would be in deep .....you know what.....without him this year.

Looking through the lineups it does not appear as though Hiura has batted ahead of Cain or Braun in any of his starts to this point.

I'd imagine it stays that way until Keston goes on some kind of tear.

Because Braun and Cain have been better? In avg, or obp or ops?

I'm sick of treating Braun like a legacy. Took them forever to get Grandal and Moose ahead of him in the order. Hiura's next. Batting in front of the pitcher? Batting Arcia pseudo lead off? It's clumsy all around.

Current publicly available projections look like...

Braun: 102-109 wRC+

Cain: 94-104 wRC+

Hiura: 90-99 wRC+

Based on the lineups they've employed I'm guessing the Brewers internal projections are somewhere along those same lines.

If Keston continues to hit around his current 117 wRC+ as he gets more PAs his projection should improve & I'd imagine they consider moving him up in the lineup once that point is reached.

Cain has been a huge problem. He's supposed to be an OBP monster. He's been terrible. Yelich Moose Grandal Hiura Thames Braun Gamel have been more than enough.

You mean he's graded improperly because he's a rookie. Got it. That's really all those projections are. A rookie being graded down because rookies in general take time.

Thames loves the GABP.

[sarcasm]Brewers should trade him to the Reds for Derek Johnson.[/sarcasm] :)

Reds broadcasters are even surprised Cain isn’t on the IL, they said, he’s not right. Telling. I believe he’s being stubborn and selfish, hurting the team, just like Shaw.

I feel bad for Cain but he's hurting the team right now. I know he's frustrated but at this point I'd rather see Aguilar at the plate before him. Shut him down for a while and let him heal, both physically and mentally.

My guess is that they don't want to put a lot pressure on Hiura right out of the gate. The Brewers are very aware of how challenging adjusting to the next level is, starting from when they draft them and put them in rookie ball. Let him adjust first and set him up for success, then put him in higher pressure situations.

Well, that’s one way to look at it I guess. I completely disagree, other than that he likely should be shut down this week.

Here comes the yearly Braun being hurt but not getting put on the IL for some reason.

You could insert Cain for Braun here.

It doesn't look like Braun was too concerned when he was taken out of the game, but if he's out for an extended amount of time and with Cain struggling, what do you do with the outfield?

Trent Grisham?

That's a hell of a job by Chase after the 2 spot in the first.

Might have been Freddy's best curve ball for called 3rd strike against a red hot Suarez too!

Braun won't be out. If he didn't make that catch Cain shoulda been pulled instead of Braun. CC being protective.

Gamel can play a lot more than he does. Grisham could have a cup of coffee. It would be nice to shut Braun and Cain down thru the break for rest.

Roster Grisham and play him, also call-up Tyrone Taylor. Play Grisham and Gamel in the OF, Taylor bench, Saladino could play of too vs lefty’s.

Chase Anderson has now started 96 games for the Brewers which ranks as the 25th most games started in team history. He is one start short of moving into a tie for 24th with Jeff Suppan.
