They looked like a very good team that had a pretty significant turn over, didn’t get much time to practice together and needs some time to gel. I think most bucks fans expected to start slow, but not really doesn’t matter since they have started hot the last 2 years only to fizzle out in the playoffs. I’m not concerned

If they are .500 after 20 games I'm fine with that. All that matters is what they look like in mid-May.

Yup. There is going to be a lot of complaining about this team early. Gonna take a few weeks or months to get going.

I do think it's likely that they're going to be a worse regular season team but (hopefully) a better playoff team.

With that said the tempered expectations seem odd to me. A year ago I think the general consensus was that anything less than appearing in the NBA Finals was a failure, which we obviously fell way short of. Seems like we're lowering the bar a bit.

It's a remade bench but the core of this team is still the same -- Giannis, Middleton, Lopez, DDV -- biggest difference is Jrue for Bledsoe. They shouldn't be a big work in progress or anything.

Jrue looks great. They need one more big man who can dominate the boards and defensively. Lopez ain’t it.

I just noticed the title of the thread lol. Reminds me of what we had on the old brewers.com message board. Game thread and discussion for every brewer game obviously, game thread for packers games, badger games, etc. One thread for the Bucks, was going on like 15 years.

If Augustine had Connaugton's minutes last night they win. Against a really good Celtics team that played about as well as they can. Not bad for a team that's a work in progress.

Who is it then?

Lopez was +22 vs Boston in 29 minutes. The Bucks got absolutely cooked when he was off the court.

Agreed. Boston's also a very good team with two elite wings. And despite the sloppy play, it took a late bank.

They just didn't look comfortable. Jrue seemed a bit hesitant at times...but impressive when he wasn't. And while I'm not worried after 1 loss in which Boston had to bank in a 3 to take the lead, it wasn't a lot of fun watching the same offense this year. So little movement, Giannis trying to do a bit too much. I look forward to Jrue running the offense through Giannis a bit more in the post. I feel like Giannis could dominate down there and still find those open shooters.

We'll see. 1 of 82 and there was a lot of turnover as you said.

When you replace your starting and backup PG and don't get much time...feels like there's gonna be an adjustment period.

I didn't think they were getting 82 in. Is that the case now?

No, it's still 72. Just habit.

In 2018-19 the average NBA team took 29.2% of their shots from 0-3 feet & converted at 65.8%. Bucks opponents took 23.9% of their shots from 0-3 feet (lowest % in NBA) & converted at 61.6% (2nd lowest % in NBA)

In 2019-20 the average NBA team took 28.2% of their shots from 0-3 feet & converted at 66.7%. Bucks opponents took 22.1% of their shots from 0-3 feet & converted at 60.1%, both of which were the lowest % in tbe NBA.

We've also lead the league defensive rebounding % each of the last two seasons.

I think Lopez works pretty well in tandem with Giannis at discouraging shots at the rim, limiting success on shots at the rim & rebounding opponent misses.

I can’t watch this game and convince my brain Milwaukee is the team wearing blue.

Obviously too early to judge this team, but my gut feeling is they have the same issue as the past few seasons. They don’t have a true #2. I’ve always viewed Middleton as a #3 on a championship team. They haven’t added a true 1B or 2. Seems like a top 3 team in the East, but not a championship team. Hope I’m wrong.

I was just coming here to post this. I have to keep reminding myself we are the "blue" team. It probably doesn't help that GS is wearing white and the score bar team squares has GS blue and us green.

Remember what Yoda said:

Yes, I've made that mistake 2-3 times already.

Lopez looks very passive today. Already had a couple of people drive on him for layups.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

2 games into the season overreactions:

1) Bobby Portis is going to have a big role on this team.

2) DDV might not be any dropoff from Bogdanovic anyway.
