Team USA loses to France in the opening round of men's basketball. Jrue Holiday played great.

Durant, Dame, Taytum and Booker were pretty bad shooting. LaVine should be nowhere near the starting lineup. Going forward Dame and Jrue in the backcourt. Durant for sure. Then some combination of Taytum, Bam, Green and Khris. Booker can be the backup guard.

Olympics are a different game. Australia is better than France. Maybe Team USA gels and wins on talent, but it's really hard to win playing NBA-style hoops in this era of international ball...

...really loving the 3x3, though. Fun, quick hoops.

Maybe the basketball team should be comprised of players who don't make the playoffs so that there's time to practice together.

Too much offensive focus with roster construction….

Some guys are used to taking 20+ shots a game and now have to pass because the offense isn’t set up specifically for them to score 30. “Big deal,” some say, “they should win anyway.” I would agree with that too, but it is a whole team dynamic at work here. If one isn’t getting 20 shots a game, is he still focusing on getting those shots, or is he doing other things (picks, hustle, defensive pressure, etc.) to help. For some, their role hasn’t even been established or figured out yet, and my guess is there has to be some hesitation on what each is supposed to be or do.

I think it's simply a matter of the rest of the world catching up to the US.

That’s a big part of it.

Looking at this year’s All-NBA Team, 3 out of the Top 5 players were born outside the US (Giannis, Luka, and Jokic).

Fournier is really good. Gobert is an All Star. It's not like these are the Washington Generals out there.

The top collection of talent still is the U.S…… by far. Giannis, Dokic, and other top players are representing their countries largely by themselves and back up/fringe NBA players. For as much as the narrative is “the world has caught up,” the best collection of skilled talent is in the United States, unquestionably. When losing to France in basketball is not a big upset, let’s all shudder. Something is drastically wrong with a team whose roster makes $3.4 billion.

That’s in Australian dollars so in US dollars it’s ONLY $2.5 billion. The point is the same though.

This is the truth. There is only 1 basketball to shoot everytime down the court on offense, but it takes 5 great defenders to stop the other team from scoring.

Major Tuesday storylines- Osaka upset and gone, Biles hurt.

Biles backed out because of the mental part of it. Said she didnt want her lack of focus to hurt the team.

Jordan Nwora is scoring at will for the Nigerian team. He has 31 points against Germany and it's mid 2nd half.

3x3 Basketball – W. My first time viewing. I like the pace of the game. Saw the USA defeat Mongolia (huh?) Wanted to see the ex-Badger play for Italy, but missed it.

Cycling – M Road Race. The contenders from the TdF earlier this month also were up in front of this event. Since it was outside of Tokyo and outdoors, spectators were in attendance.

Triathlon – W. NBC only showing the first five cross the finish line was very disappointing.

Cycling – W Road Race. Wanted to see this but missed it. I was watching live five years ago as van Vleuten had that horrific crash. Wanted to see if she could redeem herself. I see online where she thought she won only to realize the actual winner was a couple of minutes ahead of her.

Cycling – W Time Trial. American Chloe Dygert also suffered a nasty crash last year (view at your own risk) and hope she can rebound.

Swimming – Two Badgers competing this week that I will look out for.

Gymnastic – W. We all now know about Simon. Better to pull out than to forge ahead and end up in a wheelchair for life.

Meanwhile scroll down that post and find one that a 4th Antetokounpo, Alex, is making his way to an NBA soon. Pacers brought him in to workout. Giannis somewhere in the scroll down watching Alex made a comment that he absolutely believes Alex could turn out better than him.

Now take that idea, play all 4 together in an Olympics. That would be something. Imagine announcing that game! :laughing

Is there anywhere that gives a decent schedule of events and what channel they are on? That specifically states if it is a live showing or a recorded version that already happened?

When the Olympics are on the other side of the world the scheduling is usually a nightmare...but this year seems especially bad. I went to look for the live gymnastics yesterday and it seemed like it was only on Peacock? How is that even possible?

I know what you mean. Right now, I'd say the Wisconsin State Journal. Maybe USA Today? They're coverage is usually pretty good. I haven't tried the NBC website

Do I dare say that in my view it wasn't as much as Lee winning it but more Andrade losing it? It wasn't as if it was a "Giannis slam dunk" to seal as it Suni walked off the mat.

I didn’t get a ‘slam dunk’ feel after her last floor routine, but I only watch women’s gymnastics once every 4 years, so I’m hardly an expert. I’m very happy for her, though. It was a solid performance with a gold medal on the line.

So cool for the Hmong community.

nbcolympics.com/schedule

First, it shows what is on the 6 broadcast channels right now. Then it shows by sport what is happening live right now (and you can click and watch everything) Then it shows a regular "TvGuide" type of scroll thing for the 6 broadcats channels AND every sport for the next 3 hours (but you can scroll back and forth in time).

You can also click on any sport and watch any replay and get the schedule and results.
