nice performance by G against the Lakers. casual 44/14/8 line as they stomped the Lakers on their home court. hopefully they're starting a nice run here

On 17-20 from the field. An absurd performance. And, he dominated AD again (a broken record these days) and made it look utterly effortless. Bucks fans are SO lucky. I never thought I'd have an opportunity in my lifetime to see something like this in a Bucks uniform. I will never ever take it for granted.

If Brook comes back, this team will be a juggernaut. That would move Bobby back to 2nd team which helps the bench immensely.

Will be interesting to see if they leave Bobby with the starters when Brook does come back. Guess it could depend on when exactly Lopez is ready for game action. Obviously Brook is more of a defensive presence, assuming he isn't too limited off surgery, but Bobby has been so dynamic on offense with the starters, especially of late it has seemed.

Bucks are currently at +15 pts/100 possessions in 220 minutes with Giannis/Khris/Jrue/Grayson/Bobby together on the floor per BBref, so wouldn't be surprised if they kept rolling with that group.

RIP Moses Malone. One of Dad’s favorite All-Time players. He had a cup of coffee stint with the Bucks and, man, he was still awesome. He had an Old Man game for dayyyyys. Passed in his sleep while attending a golf tourney with former teammate Calvin Murphy.

I’ll tip one to you tonight, Moses. And, I’ll fondly recall the day my Pops and I ran into you at ‘The Big Table Restaurant’. My Pops was absolutely Starstruck. I never saw him that way before or since. You were a true Legend in his eyes.

This happened 6.5 years ago...?

Yes indeed my friend. I am party to and sharing my Senile moment with my Dad. :laughing

RIP Wade Boggs. Truly a legend.

While only the Bucks know the true story, it's said they are confident Lopez will be back yet this season.

Also, the Bucks will be a prime team for any players who are bought out. So I'm not sure how much they will go in on a trade. No point in bringing in a player (at a cost) for someone who is available for free. I guess there's certainty in a trade. You just don't know who will be bought out.

I'm wondering if Goran Dragić will get bought out. He might be a nice option. Assuming he would want to come here.

True. Looks like all they need to do is keep Pat and Grayson off the floor at the same time.

The only real value I thought Westbrook might bring was helping keep them afloat when LeBron inevitably got hurt so they don't fall into 9th place again. The fit itself never made any sense to me. Another ISO guy who can't shoot.

If the Bucks are semi healthy they will roll right through the East. Then it's probably another really good finals, imo against Phoenix again. I think Golden State can maybe beat Phoenix but is a much better matchup for the Bucks (from our Bucks fan perspective anyway). GS will have a really hard time with Giannis.

ESPN Sources:

Full trade participants:

Kings: Donte DiVincenzo, Trey Lyles and Josh Jackson.

Bucks: Serge Ibaka, two future second-round picks, cash.

Clippers: Rodney Hood, Semi Ojele.

Pistons: Marvin Bagley Jr.

I guess getting a couple of picks makes it a little better but sorry to see the one young asset they had go sorta cheap. I guess they need another big though and he must be better than Monroe

Giving up DiVincenzo is kind of a bummer, but his skill set is pretty redundant with Allen, Connaughton, Hill, Matthews and Nowra around. Bucks needed a big man who can play D, and Ibaka has long been one of the best. If Lopez can come back and close to full strength, that will be a nice ying/yang at the C position, and free Portis up to eventually be more of a "score in bunches" guy off the bench.

Meh.

Ibaka is a good fit, but clearly DDV didn't really have the trade value that we has hoped for. It makes us a better team for this season, though.

I'm sorta shocked that Monroe is only 31. Feels like he's been around forever.

The two 2nd round picks via Detroit are:

The Pistons are trading the lower pick between Golden State and Cleveland's second-rounder in 2023, and Sacramento's second-rounder in 2024.

Also, DDV is a nice role player but I really don't expect losing him to hurt much at all. He's just an Average Joe by NBA standards. Wish him well.

The way things are going for the Kings that second rounder might be the 1st pick in the 2nd round.

This is a really smart trade for the Bucks. Horsty is a dealer. Remember, we nabbed Grayson with 2 2nd's. The Bucks wheel and deal with those 2nd's like a chicken lays eggs. Ibaka is shooting 39% on 4 3's this season (with no gravity whatsoever from a player like Giannis) is a solid defender and can play the 4 or 5 regardless if Brook comes back. They weren't going to pay DDV in the off-season, apparently, and now get 2 assets to use for future moves. I'll miss DDV - when he was healthy and dialed he was a solid rotational piece - but this is a move they needed to make. We also off-load the empty baggage of Hood and Semi, offset any further Tax implications by accruing cash, and open up 3 roster spots for more flexibility - trades, FA signings, or Buyouts. Horst just deals. I'm a fan of this return.

Yes, in the end with a title in their pocket the Bucks are pretty much hitched to riding out the current big 3 and surrounding them with vets that change to fit needs. DDV was expendable and about to get more expensive so hard to argue with filling a need with Brook a question mark this season.

Maybe I'll eat my words but I'm in favor of Harden going anywhere and tearing a team apart from the inside. Probably not a fair criticism but I couldn't care less about where he goes. The guy goes from city to city and supposedly elevates them to champions and then proceeds to never win a championship.
Posted
I don't see Harden being able to produce a champion as the main guy. And he doesn't seem to play well with those that are his equals or better.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

I think one of the fascinating things about this Ibaka deal is the Bucks now have 2 players on their roster Fans continue to believe are Dirty players in Allen and Ibaka. Both players are actually good NBA players. Neither, in my eyes and experiences watching the NBA since the late 1970's, are actually dirty players. And, hence, the Bucks kind of go from the Sweetheart Small Market team with the absolutely amazing feel-good story of Giannis to a Team potentially despised come Playoff time. I think that is hilarious. And, if I'm being honest, I think it's pretty awesome. LOL.

LeBron James sitting in a post-game presser the other night saying "We're not on Milwaukee's level" was something for the ages.

Let's not kid ourselves. Allen IS a dirty player. He's good enough where he doesn't have to be, but for some reason, the guy is an absolute punk on the court.

I don't think Ibaka is dirty. He's hard nosed and tough. He comes across as abrasive at times. But he's not dirty IMO
