Who cares? These games are virtually meaningless.

It’s be nice to be hot going into the post season but maybe this will convince Counsel to rest Boxberger and Cousins a bit in meaningless games so they stay fresh

LOL great, I might have to log out of the forum for awhile if we lose. I don't really want to read to doomsday posts in every thread.

I have no more hysteria in the tank. I'll just be quietly depressed. Thanks, bull $#!+, I mean bull PEN.

No these games are not meaningless.

They're going to get meaningful in a hurry if they don't actually win one here in the next few days.

That was a dumb pitch. Why would you throw a fastball? If you walk him you walk him and why was Boxberger throwing the ball over to first? He didn't need to keep the runner close if the runner steals 2B it doesn't really matter as the runner is more than likely going to score on anything hit to the OF anyways with 2-outs. Just dumb all around.

If this continues, they're going to turn into meaningful games.

If the Brewers didn’t have the division locked up this game would be upsetting me.
Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Why did Counsell take out Houser? 1 ER through 6, and only 83 pitches thrown.

Why? /barf

… and that’s baseball against good teams: if you walk batters and make defensive errors, you usually don’t win.

I think you may be on to something there.

And not use Hader, Williams, or Ashby.

If we lose this game, the games here on out are hardly meaningless. Perhaps somebody hasn't looked at our remaining schedule. After three against the Mets, we close the season with six games against the Cardinals, who we suddenly can't beat, and the Dodgers. All on the road.

I've seen this team blow it too many times to think "the division is locked up".

Counsell has to pull Box from the seventh inning role. He's just not getting it done anymore.

Counsell of prior years would have used Williams in that really high leverage spot instead of being a slave to slotting pitchers by select innings.

The recent mini slides of Cousins and Boxberger has been met by an offensive slide by nearly every batter. Here's hoping they get this out of their systems before the Playoff push. This can happen in a season. Patience. Patience. Patience. This is the first bad stretch, or adversity-riddled, baseball we've seen since pre-Adames. Let's give them a chance to right their ship.

If we lose today, it really is not hard to come up with a scenario that the Cardinals enter the last series against us with control over their own destiny for the division.
