If the Brewers didn’t have the division locked up this game would be upsetting me.

If we lose today, it really is not hard to come up with a scenario that the Cardinals enter the last series against us with control over their own destiny for the division.

It’s impossible because the Brewers could still sweep the Dodgers to get the 3 wins they need.

But it isn’t hard at all to come up with a scenario in which they can win if the Brewers can’t win a couple over the weekend.

This game is very pivotal right now.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Yelich in the month of September.

13 for 72 (.181 AVG), 3 doubles.

His slash line: .222 SLG/.253 OBP/.475 OPS

Yeah, he totally deserves to be batting third in the lineup. :rolleyes

Is there anyone who wants to step up and prevent a historically ridiculous divisional collapse? Doesn't seem like it should be much to ask but it apparently is.

It's easy to get negative and overreact to the current stretch. I want to remind us all: this team has over-performed expectations the majority of the season. We saw an unbelievable enjoyable stretch of baseball for months consecutive. We set an all-time wins above 0.500 mark. We nearly have the division wrapped-up. A stretch like this, albeit NOT enjoyable, has to be factored in given they have largely over-performed no? I'm not saying things will get better or they'll find some of their prior form. BUT, I am saying: lotttta season left. This game is still in-process. Guys can find their form just as easily as they lose it. Let's have a little bit of faith. I personally believe they deserve the benefit of our doubt. My two cents.

This is not at all possible. Our magic number is 3 and we have 3 games left after we play the Cardinals next week. The earliest they could control their own destiny for a division TIE would be after Game 160 for both teams.

Time to turn this hot garbage off. So pissed at this team for pissing this away when we were finally getting something good to happen. Against the Cardinals. Screw this.

Yelich sucks. Enjoy that $200M and we'll enjoy that .700 OPS I guess. Awful albatross of an extension.

Thats 100% an Attanassio decision.

Proof?

There were reports that Yelich initiated extension talks with the owner and its the type of thing this owner has done previously when giving Braun the second extension as well as his dealings with Suppan and Lohse. This contract extension would be totally out of character for Stearns but right in line with Attanassio and his thinking.

I wish someone from the Cardinals would stop by so we can explain to them it's not worth trying to win the division.

Yes, this has been refuted and acknowledged numerous times by me already.

Magic number is 3, so this is not entirely true.

Losing 2 out of 3 to the Mets is plausible and the Cubs sweeping the Cardinals is plausible. That puts us needing to beat the Cardinals in the last series of the season.

It’s not though. The Brewers had 9 more wins than St. Louis at the start of today. Even if Milwaukee didn’t win again this year in the regular season they’d finished 91 and 71. The Cardinals have to go 9-2 to tie.

Anything is possible, but the chances of the Brewers finishing the year with a 14 game losing streak and the Cardinals also winning 25 out of their final 27 games is in reality zero percent.

Don't see any flaws with that mosaic. 100% to me.
