My classroom is 84 degrees today.  Was 82 on Monday.  Fortunately I planned ahead and got all of my testing completed last week.  Watching other classrooms that waited until this week to do it...yikes.

Mine was 86 Tuesday, but they "turned the a/c on" and it was 83 yesterday.  We got an email saying that the chillers are running at 50% capacity and the condensers keep shutting down.  Meanwhile, other colleagues that don't have a/c have temps in the low 90s in their classrooms.

Gross - no AC in my room either. Kept lights off all day and went to the library for about 30 minutes to do a math lesson.

Get permethrin in concentrate. It's fairly cheap. I wanna say it's 2oz per gallon. Apply to socks and other clothes from a small pesticide/herbicide sprayer. Toxic to cats until it dries. It stays on your clothes through about four washings and does a great job keeping the ticks off.

This probably goes without saying...  People doing stupid things in downtown Milwaukee that screwed up something that made downtown Milwaukee fun. Yup... that bugs me.

I don't know why but the Chevy Commercial for the plugin hybrid is just annoying me.  Maybe it is because I have seen it about 1000000000 times now or the woman's smirk and laugh are just overly annoying.  I can't decide.

Must not be too effective because it's for an EV not a plugin hybrid.

You can say the same thing about Chicago.

We received our teaching contracts for next year the other day.  The salary listed on mine is about $800 less than I am getting paid this year and less than what's published on the salary schedule for my level of experience and education.  This is a widespread problem in our district and the second year in a row they sent us contracts with the incorrect salaries on it.  This shouldn't be difficult to get right.

We are in the middle of a negotiation right now, so they sent us ours and it says they will put the salary on when it's decided by the board.  Umm, what?

I have state darts this weekend and am looking forward to playing.  Two weeks ago a lady was out 3 days and came back Friday.  Found out Monday she tested positive for Covid.  She was back to work Thursday of last week.  One of the staff members kids is in my class, and he tells me Friday that his wife just tested positive, but he and son were both in class Friday.  Both tested negative on the rapids here at school.  Today my aide shows up feeling terrible.  Leaves at noon as she tested positive for Covid.  If I catch something before this weekend I am going to be grumppppppy.

Humaira Asghar, known as “Dolly” to her 11.5 million TikTok fans, faces charges for allegedly setting a forest fire while shooting a TikTok video in Pakistan’s capital city Islamabad.

Asghar is not the only Pakistani TikToker who has been accused of setting a forest fire for views. Officials say it is an emerging trend in a country that is suffering from a record-breaking heatwave.

People are stupid.

I hate tiktok.  Read a story about some challenge where some kid went 120mph or something and killed 4 people.

People are stupid.

I hate all social media it is such a plague on society which is sad because the idea behind it is good just the practice of it is just utterly horrible.

How many of those jackasses pulling the emergency exit slide on the tarmac are live-streaming it on social media?

Wait, what????

I wonder how many were in the “penalty box” waiting for an available gate. That happens nearly every time I fly into O’Hare. Sitting on the tarmac for a half hour after a long redeye flight with screaming babies isn’t my cup of tea. Granted of course I know better than to do something so stupid, I can however understand fantasizing about it in that scenario.

One month down of being Interim Boss and being the only LE presence here. Nothing I've had trouble doing or has been overly complicated. But despite normal hours or maybe even fewer, I have a tiredness I can't shake and am just always exhausted.

But hopefully we get our new employee here in a few weeks, which will only be 10 months after they first interviewed. The Boss job has been available to post for three months now, but nobody is in a hurry on that and I fear it'll stay un-posted for a very long time. But going through an entire summer with permanent night shifts and the only LEO here won't be cool.

Sounds like you need a Barney Fife.

The "fortunes" in the fortune cookies at the Chinese restaurant around the corner that I get takeout from once a week are now sponsored by FTX, so all of the "fortunes" are about cryptocurrency.

False advertising.

My son is 18 months old and deathly allergic to dairy (literally). He's had two anaphylaxis reactions that have resulted  in ambulance rides.

We thought we bought this standard sized vegan "cheezecake" (how it was spelled on the box). When we opened it, it was half of the size of what the box led us to believe. This should be illegal.

We actually aren't even allowing dairy in the house. Sice we have done that, I've dropped 15 pounds, but that is a topic for a different thread. Apparently I was eating too much dairy.

Customer support based in Malaysia.

There is no worse customer experience than having to deal with customer support based in Malaysia.

Malaysia and India are the worst as a lot of the people who work in these call centers also work for the people running the scams (IRS, Amazon, fake virus, etc.).
