Just crazy, cause the memories are still fresh in my mind of earlier in his career when he and Carpenter would absolutely terrorize Brewers hitters.

Albert Pujols is 17 HR away from 700 in his career.  He has 4 in 84 plate appearances this year; at that rate, if he gets 360 more plate appearances he will get 700.

Since the end of the 2016 season, Pujols has a combined -1.6 bWAR/ -3.2 fWAR.  He has hit 92 HRs during that span.

Prime example of how while extra payroll can help, it doesn't automatically correlate to more wins.

Yeah, there's something to be said about payroll not meaning as much as is believed. The Dodgers and Yankees are the two biggest spenders yet have a grand total of three championships between them this century, or maybe two depending on what year you consider the start of the 21st century. Boston is the exception.

The Phillies are the prime example of dumb spending. Much like the Reds a few years ago, they spent big on bats who couldn't play D anywhere and thought it wouldn't hurt them. Flash forward...it did.

Too bad we didn’t sign Matt Carpenter. Would’ve been fun to see him torture the Cardinals. To be fair, though, who could’ve seen this coming with how far he had fallen off over the last couple years. And he’ll probably end up reverting to that guy soon. Still, would be a nice piece to have in the midst of all our injuries right now.

Article about the shift probably being outlawed next year with some quotes from players. I still have yet to see any reasonable argument made for banning the shift. If you think players are going to stop trying to hit homeruns on every swing and not care about how often they strike out because there's no shift I think you're very mistaken.
