Is McCutcheon a habitual first pitch swinger? As noted on the broadcast, he has swung 1st pitch 3 of 4 today.

I wish more players were more aggressive on the 1st pitch.

Really tough spot for Caratini to be. He probably hasn't met any of these guys he is catching right now, much less seen how their pitches move. Definitely not his fault and it is the job ... but he has been off frame on the corners and it has helped the squeeze of the zone.

Don’t trust Ashby or Cousins …….

This isn’t the right approach. Ashby pitched well given the circumstance. Cousins had no control in a tough spot. First game man, strap in for a wild ride.

Guy who was a sub 3 ERA for us last year has shaky command in his first appearance on a chilly day in Chicago on opening day.... "Can't use him". Man it is good to be back to baseball season!

Come on, Brosseau! How about a little French tickler down the left field line?

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006
