I don't see why you don't just save Hader for the 10th; he'd be perfect for that role with his strikeout potential with the automatic runner on.

I'm not rooting for an injury but if it were up to me I would release him. This team needs a big upgrade at DH and I doubt Hiura is the guy.

If the Brewers had enough $$$ … I would release two or three players … Cutch & Cain for sure … I’d bench Yelich or bat him ninth

I certainly don’t want to see anyone injured either

He was already warming up.  He was coming in for the 9th no matter what.

Hader in a non save situation

I'm just honestly shocked

Counsell will always use him in these tie games in the top of the 9th situations for some reason.

Pretty sure I have I accepted the same. I will not say that I wouldn't have signed him , I was so happy that we did. Now that contract will be a albatross around our neck , Yankees or Dodgers can afford that mistake , unfortunately we cannot !

I’m pretty sure all Brewers fans - even those who are always positive & are uncomfortable with honest criticism about any player - feel exactly the same way

Yelich is guaranteed his $$$ … whether healthy or injured - much like the Chris Davis contract with the Orioles in recent years

Ideally … for both player & fans … release him & let him try to figure things out on another team

I would much rather have a young rookie or someone like Dahl take his spot

Once you get there there cannot be a save situation in the game.
In this case he hasn’t pitched since Monday and there is an off day tomorrow.

If he is ever going to get a second inning, today would be the day.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

They just said Hill has to face two more hitters.

I thought the 3 hitter rule didn’t apply if the pitcher finishes an inning.

ETA: I guess he could have been removed after the 8th, but if he comes back he has to face two hitters in that inning to make it a total  of 3.

Heart of the Padres order with a man on second and nobody out.

Not a promising situation

It took 3 hours and 20 minutes to slog through 9 innings. Why make it any longer than necessary.

Had our chance in the 8th. Though I don’t understand how Hader can pitch in two different games on Tuesday and not in the 10th today.

good point.

The game doesn't even get to the tenth without Hader.
