Let's be optimistic. So, in this series, the Brewers are starting two really good lefties in Ashby and Lauer. Meanwhile, the Nationals will counter with a lineup of mostly mediocre hitters, except for Josh Bell and one Juan Soto. However, while they are both absolutely crushing righties, Josh Bell's OPS against lefties this season is .684, while Soto's is even worse at .641. Seems like a recipe for success, if you ask me. And with Omar Narvaez returning from the COVID IL, we will now have our full lineup ready to tee off against Nationals pitching. Then, the Crew will head to New York to face the Mets, where they will avoid DeGrom and Scherzer, and potentially even Alonso and Marte. All in all, a return to winning could be imminent!

Are we certain Narvaez is being activated tonight, that we aren't requiring him to breathe on a mirror for a couple days? Certainly hope so, it looks like Victor could use a little downtime.

He has already been activated and is hitting 8th in tonight's lineup.

It is disturbing, though, how Cain is still allowed to be on this team, let alone Trevor Kelley....Like there is no accountability for absolutely sucking.

Fedde did pretty well in his earlier start against the Brewers, pitching 5 scoreless innings on 2 hits before giving up a 2 run HR to Tellez in the 6th.

The Brewers lineup that night had 8 of the same hitters as tonight. Adames was out and Wong was in.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I truly cannot understand Kelley on the roster

I don’t like Cain or Suter on the team, but I at least understand the decision to DFA one or both being more challenging because of their history & team chemistry influence

Also, you would think that the team would want a fresh arm from AAA considering Kelley pitched 2 innings yesterday. Regardless, he just absolutely sucks. I'm sure he's a great guy, but his ERA over 3 major league stints is 9.74....

Yelich s/b #7, NOT #1

Renfroe s/b #1, NOT #7

Narvaez s/b #2, NOT #8

Adames s/b #8, NOT #2

Taylor s/b #5, NOT #9

McCutchen s/b #9, NOT #5

Please forward this to Craig Counsell !!!!!!

I am a little surprised they have not given Connor Sadzeck a try yet. Sure seemed like a DFA of Kelley and brining up somebody else was in the cards. Don't know if he maybe is traveling with the team since he hasn't pitched in a few games. Perdomo hopefully coming back soon as well but Barker is likely gone soon.

I wonder if they hired someone who is Dyslexic for their analytic group and all of the analysis are flipped.  Because I can't imagine how you can conclude your 3rd best hitter this year should be batting 8th.

I also liked what I saw from Peter Strzlecki in his one appearance. It wasn't earth-shattering or anything but his breaking ball looked pretty and managed to fool a couple Padres hitters. Also has good strikeout rates in the minors.

Other than McCutchen batting 5th I think this batting order is about as good as you’re going to do with this group of players. I would probably do something like:

Yelich, Adames, Tellez, Renfroe (unless he is being put lower because of concerns with his hamstring), Urias, Narvaez, Taylor, Peterson, McCutchen.

But, tinkering with moving a player up or down a spot or two isn’t likely to make much difference, especially when you don’t have any big stars to stick in the high, middle part of the order.

I’ve been advocating for Yelich to bat leadoff for some time now so I’m curious to see how it works out.

Hiura   1.156 ops vs Righites in 39 ABs (6 xb hits) ( he gets more ABs against lefties where he has a .332 ops)

Caratini .747 ops vs righties 47 ABs (4 xb)

starting DH hitting 5th .553 ops 126 ABs (4 xb)

Thays 10 extra nase hits in 86 ABs for Caratini and Hiura against righties.  At his current pace McCutchen will need 315 ABs to get his 10.  Hes hitting 5th.

Vs Fedde

Caratini and Hirua 3/4, double 2 bb

McCutchen  3/17, double, hr, .578 ops

Ho hum. Playing from behind again.

Well, we were playing from ahead yesterday, Sunday, and Monday, and it didn't exactly help us.

So, I guess it’s hopeless either way.

I appreciate Peterson being an aware enough hitter to have a runner on base when he hit that HR. Tired of these solo HRs.

The Nationals are the Reds of the East.  I'm not worried.

Since the Brewers pounded on the Reds at AFF in early May, the Reds have a better W-L record than the Brewers (and the best record in the division) and have scored 49 more runs.

They haven’t been the same team that started 3-22.
