Hopefully the break allowed Lauer to get himself right. He has a 5.45 ERA over his past seven starts, the Brewers can't really afford to have a black hole of production in the rotation. Their offense doesn't score enough runs to keep themselves in those games.

For his career Charlie Blackmon has hit Eric Lauer very well with an overall line of 11-for-20 including 3 doubles and 2 home runs.

The Crew hitter that’s proven to be a Kuhl customer is Willy Adames (3-for-5 with a double). On the other end of the spectrum is Kolten Wong and his lifetime 1-for-15 line against Chad Kuhl.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

The worst part of the last 7 starts were the first four, and 2 of his last 3 were quite good, though he got no run support.

My hope is that he was already returning to form before the break and will continue that going forward.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Yes, he's looked better the last couple times out.  Hopefully he hit a rough patch in June, straightened himself out, and it's smoother sailing for Lauer going forward.  If we can get Peralta back reasonably soon, the rotation looks solid-ish heading into September.

Is it me or are the reds cubs and pirates playing better ball.  They don’t seem like a soft touch anymore    They’ve improved

they will probably gut themselves at the trade deadline though

They have their moments, and are better than they were in April, especially the Reds. But they still are at best inconsistent. The Cubs lost 9 in a row just before the All Star break.

Lauer was continuing the string of rocky first innings but got a break on Blackmon’s liner.

Yelich smoked that liner and Joe helped turn it into a triple.

117.2 MPH off the bat. That will be among the hardest hit balls of the season. Good to see Christian can still get into one like that. Shows the ability is still there.

It seemed ill-advised to dive for that.  Too bad it kind of died at the wall.  Any sideways roll and Yeli would have been all the way around.

His last 4 starts have been pretty good

Good to see Freddy get through 2 solid innings in Nashville today. Probably will want to get him at least 2 more rehab starts.

Whoa.    I didn’t know he was getting this close to coming back

3 weeeeak singles. Blah.

Not all of those were that weak, and the Brewers have gotten more than their share of breaks in this game: the line drive DP, Wong’s strikeout, Urias’ ground ball double, and the 400 foot fly out to end the top of the second.

The real problem is that Lauer isn’t locating his pitches well.
