The Marlins played into extra innings in New York last night, used 6 bullpen arms, and landed in Milwaukee at 2:03am CT. Lets hope they’re a little tired heading into this 4-game series with the Brewers.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Brewers are going to face solid starters every single day...so the bats might have to try and show up a bit. Hopefully on Friday, Burnes decides to show up like his ace counterpart did last night.

The Brewers haven't announced their Saturday/Sunday plans (that I have seen), but I ponder if they may try to split up Peralta/Ashby. Ashby absolutely mowed down the Marlins back in May throwing for 4 hitless innings with 8 Ks. Plausible they piggyback each other again on Saturday to prep for Tuesday...but I don't know who you toss out there Sunday if you do that. Peralta only has 4 innings pitched in the last month though...so we probably don't have much of a choice in the end.

Marlins are a true enigma opponent, they've been awful against the good teams in the NL (22-53 vs. ATL, NYM, PHI, MIL, STL, LA and SD). Yet they've also managed to have three separate winning streaks of 5, 6 and 7 games respectively.

Just saw that the Phillies doubleheader against the Nats has been moved from Saturday to tomorrow because of heavy rains expected over the weekend from hurricane/tropical storm Ian.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

The Marlins have some pretty good pitchers but their offense appears to be pretty dreadful. We’ll probably see some low scoring games throughout this series.

The Marlins pitching staff has a (slightly) better FIP and ERA+ than the Brewers this year!

Should have moved it to Sunday. Them blowing all their pitching before facing the Astros would have been real beneficial

The Marlins lineup doesn't exactly look like murderers' row, but for whatever reason Brian Anderson has given the Brewers fits. Against Eric Lauer specifically he's 4-for-8 with 2 doubles and a home run, but in his 70 career plate appearances against the Brewers he's got a line of .302 / .371 / .571 (.943 OPS).

I know it take like 5 miracles to happen, but I had a fantasy of the Brewers celebrating on the field in St. Louis after winning the WC round while ending the careers of Pujols, Molina, and Wainwright.

The good news Cubs 2-0 top of the 7th. The bad news is the Marlins are throwing a lefty at us with a 3.52 ERA. There is a 38% chance we will make up a game on the Phillies today.

If the Cubs do pull it out, I would give it a greater than 50% chance as the Marlins, despite their pitching, are a really bad team.

I won't pull what's left of my hair out if the Brewers do lose, if the Cubs hang on. It's pretty likely there are losses left on the schedule. If we're going to lose, let's do it when they also lose. As nice as it would be to see us take that spot, we only need to be there on the last day.

Yes this is my fantasy as well.  Red cobras galore, tears everywhere.  And I hope the final win comes off a FARTSLAM or something that really sticks in the craw of the red birds and their fans, too.

One of those included a 3 game sweep of the Nationals, another one included a 3 game sweep of the Nationals, and another included a 4 game sweep of the Nationals.

The Nationals didn't beat the Marlins a second time this year until mid September.

IMO people put way too much weight on the matchups this late in the season. It barely matters. Baseball is completely unpredictable with a sample size like a single series and the lineups are often full of guys nobody has pitched against trying to audition as MLB players. Anything can happen. I wouldn't feel any safer playing the Marlins or the Dodgers the final week of the regular season.
