I'm also for restrictions on how often someone transfers too.  Perhaps a scholarship "contract" could help? You need to do 2 years at least? Either for your HS commitment or after a transfer?  Or in the event of a coaching change.  That should slow down the churn without eliminating it.

And get rid of the open transfer portal before the bowl games.  Make them wait until after it is ALL done and then deal with next year.

I briefly turned in the Arizona Bowl today, and wow my wife asked if it was a high school game because the production value was so low and the announcer weren't even paying attention to the game in the first half of a 4 point game. I used to enjoy bowl season, not a crazy amount, but catch a few here and there then cram them in for New Year's. I'm not completely ready to give up on college football, but it is feeling like it wouldn't take much at this point. Big Ten volleyball is pretty exciting

With WI/LSU, I swear the second half turned into a discussion about LSU's recruitment and prospects for 2024.  Granted, some of that was about the QB... but at some point I was wondering if WI merited any discussion.  I think one "partial announcer" was referred to LSU or some part of the team as "his guys"... not sure his connection with the team, but the broadcast was decidedly lopsided in the second half.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

He was referring to a player who belonged to the same fraternity he belonged to in college. Those announcers were annoying af.

Washington has made it a game at halftime.  Enjoyable game so far.  Helps I'm not rooting against either(or both) team for once.

That was a huge disappointment. Michigan was clearly the better team but it should have been closer than it was.

Washington had their chances.  Penix missed several guys who were wide open for big gains.  Looked like the Badgers defense forgetting to show up in the first quarter.  The interception where the OL stepped on Penix's foot was bad luck and gave UM a short field.

Gives credibility to Ohio State's claims of deserving to be in the playoffs, and hopefully helps dispel the notion that we should bow to the SEC for playoff selections.

Nick Saban is retiring.

My initial thought is that there's going to be some sort of NCAA investigation into Bama and Saban is just either getting out of it or him "retiring" is a way for the $EC to justify keeping any violations under wraps and playing the "nothing to see here card".

I wouldn't be surprised, although nowadays it isn't easy for a college FB or BB program to do something that might actually get them into serious trouble (a coach having to sit out games vs Ball State, the Citadel & Louisiana-Monroe doesn't count).

X-number of months as a studio analyst/AFLAC commercial guy, then back into coaching would be my guess.

Saban is 72 years old. He’s probably done coaching

It seems like he's just not a fan of this world of NIL and transfer portal and wants to be done.

And the thing that people aren't talking about - tampering, and having to continually recruit your own players.

If there's one person who has the clout to get everyone on the same page and establish some regulations (without getting sued for anti-competitive practices), it might be him.  Hopefully that's his next venture.

I get what you're saying, but the counterpoint to that would be he's also probably the 1 coach who benefitted the most over his career at Bama by having a stranglehold on financial resources/facilities/recruiting draw to bring in limitless 5 star recruits and then jettison scholarships from players if better talent shows up the following season, and also have their pick of top level assistants before the NIL/transfer portal started scrambling that up, it's him.

I can definitely see him just wanting to ride into the sunset at 72 and not have to deal with what coaches need to do in today's college football landscape to stay at the top.  And he's not a dummy, I'm thinking he also realizes that UGA has passed up Alabama in terms of being "that" program in the SEC and shows no signs of giving it up.  As the weird SEC divisional schedule now shifts to UGA and Bama playing each other in the regular season and more frequently moving forward than just in the SEC title game, plus adding UT and Oklahoma to that conference, sledding is getting alot tougher for even the best programs to sleepwalk themselves to undefeated or 1-loss regular seasons.

Or, he just wants no part of Bucky the next couple years!

What are the odds that the next Alabama coach is fired within 4 years? I bet it's at least 75%.

Not that I feel bad for whoever it is, they are going to get paid either way.
