Because the "problems" are...relatively minor and being addressed.

There is some weird stuff that goes on inside locker rooms. It'd always been my experience you can refuse for the most part, but there's an initiation process. It's like a family. The "car wash" would have been one I'd have refused and the "QB-C snap," but they're testing you and some of it is just stuff you have to go through. I remember being woken up with someone breaking into my dorm room banging pots and kettles making you go run, you have to do the grunt work, that stuff is fine. For as homophobic as locker rooms can be, there's no place with more homoerotic behavior though. That...that is weird. I really don't think they needed a bigger "solve,' than what they'd already come up with.

And what's the other issue? A coach being verbally abusive? I don't know what he said, but I don't know, I've had lots of coaches cussing me out and yelling at me. I'd need more context. Of ALL the athletes who went through NU, you had...2 people come forward and it was from 2014 I believe? That tells me this wasn't a culture with rampant hazing.

Frats are 10X worse with forcing people to drink just...ridiculous amounts of alcohol.

But it's still a B1G coaching gig and again, they're addressing those "problems."

What’s your threshold for number of different sports and number of lawsuits before this is no longer “relatively minor”. Seems like the floodgates are in the process of opening. Criminal charges appear possible as well for failure to report hazing of minors.

There were 2 people who'd come forward and the Baseball coach yelled at his players and he got fired when I said this.

Leonhard will be joining the University of Illinois as a senior football analyst.

So Bielema has three, count 'em, three people on his staff who once roamed the UW defensive backfield.

He's certainly got that program headed in the right direction so it isn't a bad gig. But given the status Leonhard attained when here I thought his eventual landing spot would be a little more lofty. It appears staying in the midwestern footprint is important to Jim.

Too bad for Northwestern they're in a state of flux right now. I think that would've been a great match.

Give it a year or two and he is probably their head coach.  Another possibility could be Iowa or Michigan State.

Leonhard is an analyst.  For all we know, his job is to sit at home and break down film.  It's really a nothing-burger until he's on the sidelines somewhere.

Yeah, that is what I thought when I saw this.  Filler job until next year's coaching jobs are opened

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

They said he’ll be in the office Sunday thru Thursday and home in Madison on the weekends.

I'm assuming JL still lives in Madison. That's what, a 1-hour flight?

And not required to be in Champbana on game days? Interesting stuff.

I think I read somewhere he can't technically "coach". I don't know if there was a non compete he signed or what but that's why he has the role he has.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

With regards to the NU situation, I think back to Penn State where I thought they would be performing at an 1-AA level for several years, only to rebound quickly.

Looks like Fleck is the latest B10 coach to be under the microscope for inappropriate locker room behavior.

I am not surprised his face kind of screams inappropriate locker room behavior.

I'm still very much hoping he takes a job he's previously turned down...

TE’s Cundiff and Eschenbach both no longer with the team.  Leaves the TE room pretty thin.

It's a concern because they both saw the field quite a bit, and Longo likes using his TEs.

They moved Riley Nowakowski, a former FB, to TE. They also have Hayden Rucci & Cole Dakovich, who saw the field some. Keep an eye on RS freshman JT Seagraves. He played in only one game last year, but it was the bowl game & they threw to him a time or two.

Wish I lived a little closer to Platteville. I suspect this is an interesting camp.

Could be the only time in his life he isn't all tingly about receiving attention.

FWIW I think it's probably a nothingburger.

They went from 10 to 8.  I wouldn't call that thin.  They aren't going to be playing 2-TE sets nearly as much as they did under Chryst - they'll be playing 3 WRs/1 TE predominantly.

Rucci/Pugh/Dakovich/Seagraves/Nowakowski/Large have all seen game action.  Sounds like Large is still out with injury, but that still leaves five.

Another 3-star DB has committed to the Badgers.

He's actually a 4-star on one of the recruiting sites....Rivals, IIRC?

Lucas had offers from Michigan & Alabama, among others. It's hard to believe how much WR & DB talent this new staff has brought on board, to a program that has been known mostly as Tailback & O-line U. And they've secured a couple of nice RB prospects, too. Certainly way too early to say, but McIntosh may have hit a HR to rival what Pat Richter did 30-odd years ago (Alvarez) & about a decade later (Ryan).

The Athletic has him as a 3-star so went with 3-star.

Totally understand. Those rating lists can be all over the place.

Sometimes I think a 4-star kid in basketball can elevate to a 5 simply because Duke or Kansas offers him.

Be careful when mentioning The Athletic.  I was expecting to get slapped by a paywall... 😉
