Brewers (Lauer) vs Cubs (Taillon) - 04/02/23, 1:20pm

Going for the series win today. I'm starting to become more convinced the Cubs will be a thorn in the Brewers' side this season. While the offense still has huge question marks - particularly with Suzuki out for awhile - their rotation looks pretty okay.

Little nervous about Lauer.  I saw him a couple of times in the spring and he didn’t look sharp. I hope he was just tinkering around and he’s ready to go.  Would be nice to get a series win.

Yeah, Lauer pitching today at Wrigley with a S wind at 15-20mph could get ugly unless he’s really sharp. Could finally be some offense for both teams.

Assuming we start Caratini behind the plate today against RHP Taillon, Counsell faces an interesting choice:

- Winker in right field, with Contreras DHing and Wiemer on the bench?
- Wiemer in right field, with Winker DHing and Contreras on the bench?

That is an interesting point. I think I'd run Wiemer out there for defensive reasons with Contreras getting a day off. Winker is probably the better DH option against a RHP.

Fun lineup today with all 3 rookies in it, hopefully this is the lineup we see most days, with Contreras in for Caritini

Who’s the first long reliever out of the bullpen?

Lauer is throwing BP.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Please just give us the non-ST version of Eric Lauer today. This is all I ask, baseball Gods.

Gods answer is …..nope.

Swanson is welcome to make an out this series.
