They put up as many runs against Steele tonight as he's given up since May. It will come down to Freddy, who's had success against the Cubs.

OK. I guess we will find out tomorrow.

Brewers aren’t good enough to give away games like this……..had Steele beat……got unlucky and made a bad mistake……

I want to believe in this team……but I just don’t.

I guess the Brewers record of being 14-5 in one run games wasn’t sustainable.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

There is a very good reason it’s an E5.

A decent first baseman’s job is to catch non perfect throws……Rowdy catches that ball 90% of the time.

Yea it's an E5 but a good first baseman probably picks that at a 90% clip.

Sure, but a major league first baseman helps prevent errors and the Brewers don’t have one.

Maybe Attanasio and Arnold wil pick one up.  When pigs fly….too cheap.

I guess it's like Schroeder says, if you put the ball in play.......

Bad throw by Anderson of course, made worse by the intended receiver of the throw. I venture to guess most experienced 1B make that play.

Something pissed me off in the 8th inning that looked like wouldn't be a factor, but as it turns out could've been. Their reliever goes 3-2 to every hitter in the 7th inning. Owen Miller leads off the 8th & decides to swing at the 1st pitch. Then back-to-back walks. Then Anderson decides to swing at the 1st pitch. Sometimes baseball players can drive you nuts.

Even though they took the lead in the 9th, Turangs' play was spectacular & deserves mention.

What do you post on your Cubs forum after the last few games?

I've kind of been wondering that too.  lol

When you run at least three forums (Brewers, Cubs, and Twins) do you act like you are a fan of the team on each forum?

Awkward.

Owen Miller is a liability in the field, it very much seems.

He's got a steel glove at 1B and his throwing arm at 3B is not very good from what I have seen in the past 2-3 games.

Hopefully, we can get that improved upon or get him back at 2B more.

What a play in the 9th inning by Brice Turang in the top of the 9th ... love his glove game!  But, his bat is a liability ... more Montiserio?

I think Keston Hiura is the equal of Owen Miller at 1B, FWIW.

Wiemer isn't a sure thing right now either.

Exactly. If only Winker had TOLD CC he was going to strike out lol.

Not a good AB by Winker, but his ABs have looked marginally better than Wiemers' lately.

If memory serves the Brewers kind of have a habit of limping into the All Star Break.

Since it puts your better defender on the field the majority of the time, I think you'll see pretty close to a straight platoon, for now.

Seriously, though, this is what happens when you refuse to draft corner infielders and pretty much exclusively draft up the middle.

A team shouldn’t have to draft a first baseman to find a competent one.

Draft the best players available regardless of position and build the major league roster with trades and free agents filling in what your system doesn’t provide.

It's not just the refusal to draft a 1B. That's just one part of Stearns'/Arnold's deemphasis on the position. It's also the lack of resources they devote to figuring the position out, including in FA and trades. Cris Carter, Eric Thames, Jesus Aguilar, Justin Smoak, Rowdy Tellez. These are all guys they've picked up off the scrap heap or who were cast-offs from other teams.

I believe 2019 was actually 3-5. Going back from there, 1-7, 6-2, & 3-5. The 1-7 was the team that went to the NLCS.

Not sure exactly what it means. Maybe constantly limping into the break w/an overused bullpen factors in.

Awkward.

That's how it goes when the devoted fan site sells out to the corporate overlords.
