Baseball America updated their rankings to include the draft. Here is our boys:

2- Chourio

30- Frelick

37-Misiorowski

55- Quero

98-Gasser

100- Black

I think Quero is too low and Gasser is too high personally. Either way, it is good to have 6 in the Top 100. It didn't seem like long ago that we would have 1-2

Personally, I would swap C-Rod with Gasser although I like his stuff as well.  Have to believe Luis Lara and Yophery Rodriguez are in consideration for the last few spots too.

Black too low I think but he’s on list so I’ll take it. Seems BA likes Gasser more than Brewers since they have not given him a chance regardless of injuries or having guys struggle. I’m a big fan of Capuano Jr. So happy to see him make it.

I do agree though that C-Rod in my eyes is our 2nd best pitching prospect… Henderson currently 4th behind Gasser but closing gap. Jarvis gets overlooked always but he’d prob be 5th.

I think the only thing holding Black back is the lack of a long term home. It doesn't totally make sense to me as he looks like he can play a very clean 3B. Not spectacular, not a big arm, but enough. His arm is accurate, he's got a quick first step, he's very good coming in on the ball. But it feels like that scouting report gets written and then it's carved in stone.

If he had a 60 arm, I think he'd be a top 30 prospect right around Marte from Cincy.

AS for Gasser, I saw his FB was topping out at 97, but in the 94-96 range. The scouting reports say 91-94 topping out at 96 with a plus slider and then two inconsistent pitchers. The delivery looks deceptive, but from what I can tell, they're saying he needs to develop the change and curve a bit more so righties don't tea off on him. That makes more sense at 92-93.

Rodriguez looks like he has pretty similar velo, but that change is particularly nasty. And if the slider turns out to be a 60 grade pitch...that's a pretty nice combo to fill out a rotation.

How many potential top 100 prospects do we have in our org.

I could truly can see Lara, Adams, EBJ, Yophrey, Carlos Rodriguez, Wilken, Knoth, Pratt, Bitonti all potentially joining the current top 6-7 of our org. in the top 100 at some point next year. Add in a few long shots like Guillarte, Logan Henderson. Blalock, O'Rae, Baez, Boeve. Jimenez and more

Luke Adams may be the most under rated prospect around the league. MLB.com seriously gave him a 30 grade speed as a guy who has stole 27 bases in 78 games ( that report is only a couple weeks old).

That's certainly optimistic Chuorio and Quero should be top 10-15 IMO. An extraordinary draft class could keep Quero out of top 10. Misiorowski still needs a lot of refinement. I thought his promotion was a bit premature and I hope they don't spend 3 years moving him from reliever to starter like Ashby. But he should be top ~20 just based on arm talent and results in A ball.

Black will still be there. Frelick will graduate.

What's really wild to me are the BB% of our farm system. That's obvious a major point of emphasis. Outside of Baez, pretty much everyone's at 10% and most are quite a bit higher. Chourio is at nearly 8%, but...when you're getting 2 hits a game and have an OPS of 1.260 or whatever he has since the futures game, not sure how much you want him to walk(I mean...10% would still be ideal).

As for Adams, I haven't watched much. Again, just haven't seen Carolina play a lot, but every scouting report has him at a 30/35 run with MLB pipeline even saying he looks like he's "stiff."

Quote

The 19-year-old has shown a knack for stealing bases with Carolina, but he’s a well-below-average runner and looks stiff going up the line. A third baseman for now, he’s received looks at first and left field and will likely be better fits at either spot.

I'm thinking a lot of these scouting reports rely too heavily on the original scouting report and are slow to acknowledge any progress made or just that they missed on a tool set. I think Tyler Black's inability to play 3rd due to his arm strength is at least a little at play there, but he is a top 100, so maybe that's just my obstinance.

I'll take Lara, Wilken, Bitonti/Pratt and Adams as top 100 at some point next year. Knoth maybe if he starts in full season ball, otherwise it may take another year.

Guilarte has a chance if he can make the jump and Areinamo the same. I guess both the '22 DSL signees if they make the jump to full season ball, but there are so many MIFers that it'll be tough.

We may push some guys at SS and 3B given the limited spots available and all the prospects we have popping up there.

Pratt-Bitonti-Wilken-Boeve-Knoth are all future top 100 potentials, so are Lara-Adams-YRod-Baez-Nadel-Ereu.

Quero at 34 and Misiorowski at 38 is what I’ve been able to gather from Twitter so far. Don’t have a subscription anymore.

Me neither!

Posted (edited)

#1 Jackson Holliday

#2 Jackson Chourio

#3 Dylan Crews

#4 Paul Skenes

#5 Junior Caminero

Brewers:

#26 Sal Frelick

#34 Jeferson Quero

#38 Jacob Misiorowski

The way I am accessing it doesn't let me see past #91 so maybe Gasser or Black are hidden in there
