I hope Gasser gets the nod.

I think Miller is the most likely position player due to his versatility.  If not him, probably Toro. Darkhorse would be Greg Allen to be a pinch runner / defensive replacement.

What is it about Gasser that the Brewers don’t like? They’ve had numerous opportunities to bring him up throughout the year and have passed every time. He’s 24 years old and has had a very solid year. Not sure what the Brewers are waiting for at this point.

He's in their 2024 rotation if he is healthy next spring, no doubt.

Yes eventually it will be Donaldson and Gasser

If Gasser doesn't get the call now tomorrow when the Brewers actually need a spot start then I doubt we see him at all this season.

Probably just figured they valued the positional versatility and pinch running ability in case they need it later in the game…….until Donaldson gets here.

Prior to today Teheran was a potential callup but he looked horrible today, probably safe to just DFA him if they need room on the 40 man at some point.

I was at his start in Appleton last week and it was also not good at all.  I wasn't behind the plate to see super closely and it's not like I was closely tracking velocity or anything, but the results were not good. Hard hit balls, walks. Not want you want vs single A

I can see them using both.  With players having to stay down for 10 days when being optioned, it allows them to send them down after a start and recall an extra reliever.  They'll only be needed every 10-12 days if they alternate between Rea and Gasser.  Won't hit the limit of five options if they're only needed every 10-12 days.

All that optioning doesn't at all seem necessary when you have a 14-man pitching staff with a 9-man bullpen.

Probably to start on Sunday in place of Turang against the lefty, too.

Also after glossing over the option rules, pitchers need to be down for 15 days before they can be recalled from AAA unless they are replacing someone who was added to the IL. The 10 is for position players. They both match up with the minimum IL stints for position players and pitchers.

With 17 in a row from 9/8 through 9/24 and Houser on the IL they might need a bullpen game or two.  Rea/Gasser would be the 5th starter.
