That is not what you said. You said 3 games left and that was not true. Now you add a paragraph to what you said.

Yeah, I mean, if we’re at the point where we expect going into a 3-game home set needing one win to clinch is an insurmountable psychological barrier, then why even show up for the playoff series?  Elimination games are WAY more nerve-wracking than that.  Let’s keep some perspective here.

That’s exactly what I meant.     You just didn’t get it          So I spelled it out for you

Hopefully Counsell understands you have to put your 9 best bats on the field moving forward. Guys carry gloves for late inning defense. Get the lead and then swap away.

Especially when you really don't have any Goldschmidt types on the roster.

Nothing is insurmountable.    Cripes sakes.      The only people are saying is that something that is extremely unlikely to happen could actually happen in that scenario.     That’s all it means

jjst because a bunch of anonymous posters on the internet says it isn’t going to happen doesn’t mean @#$& all to me.   The brewers just better finish this before the weekend.        Which they should ?

Defense only starts mattering once you have a late lead?  I mean, look, I wish the offense was a juggernaut, but it isn’t, and isn’t going to be even if we give up on the defensive emphasis.  There’s more than one way to build a winner.

I agree, they should have this thing done before the weekend.  But let’s get down to brass tacks:  let’s say the Cards sweep.  Are you calling a Cubs sweep at that point?

This is just one of those games where Mikolas pitched pretty well, and the Brewers failed in their one big moment.

I have nothing to back this up, but it seems to me like the Brewers are really good at creating one or two golden opportunities for a 3-run outburst every game. When they take those opportunities, they usually win. When they don't, it's tough sledding.

It's especially tough when the potential big inning happens early. When they fail there, it often seems the offense struggles to create more chances. That'll have to change in the playoffs, which are all about continual pressure.

I’m not calling anything.       If everyone here had to bet their life they would pick the brewers to win the division

but if it gets to the weekend.     You (and I don’t mean you specifically, just the royal “you”) can take that 99.9% whatever and shove it up the collective rear ends where those playoff odds belong anyways

This is every offense in the MLB (history) except the Braves. and the '27 Yankees. And maybe the '20 Dodgers.

A note re: the Cubs.

Ross is having to do a lot of heavy BP management. Assad had been starting. Now he's coming in a high-leverage hold situation. Alzolay is down. Fulmer is down. Nobody in that group is really trustworthy, so it's full mix-and-match mode in Chicago.

That's going to be tough to maintain for five more difficult games, plus a playoff series.

I agree. The thing is they just don't seem to be able to look in the mirror in those big spots. The pitcher is in a tough spot and instead of waiting them out they get Uber aggressive. Frustrating for sure.

LOL, yes, everybody just needs to look in the mirror before their ABS...Who are they, Taylor Swift?

5 out of the last 13 games the Brewers have scored 1 run or less.

Feast or famine.

Doesn't matter who pitches for the Crew in the playoffs if they score 1 run or less.
