Not sure what they were trying to do there on that last play unless the defensive end was supposed to make a hole for Walker.

He didn't get kicked out he just decided to go left.

I'll give Walker the energy of the doubt there. Looked like he jumped up and then the dude when for his feet so he just lifted his knees to go over him. I don't think he intended to jump over the guy

So just don't do anything. You're about to get the ball back down 13 with a chance to win with 2 TD. Don't even put yourself in a position where you'll do anything stupid. Any penalty there, offsides, etc, is a first. Know the damn situation, it's a chip shot, they're making it. Just sit back and let them have it.

I don't really care about that. Quay Walker is trying to make a game changing play...trying to get up and block it.

I'll take a play of aggression 100 times over pushing a trainer or something stupid.

I'm...not happy, but I feel like the 2nd half, Love and the team showed a lot.

I mean, it's a stupid play, that's obvious, but...I just can't get too mad at Quay for THAT particular play.

Oxymoronic penalty. Unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on a demonstration of athletic skill, which didn’t offend anyone’s sensibilities, deliberately injure a player, or taunt an opponent. The NFL can make such a play illegal—which I disagree with—but at least call the penalty something else.

Yah, really missing the logic on that. Seems extreme.

Also, "starting" CB is a...vague term. You are starting 3 pretty much. So Stokes, Douglas and Jaire are all starters IMO.

The problem is none of the three are slot CBs.

Walker has 17 tackles and has been all over the field.  He’s one of the few dudes that worth a damn on that defense

Actually, there's a lot of players on that defense who would last about 2 seconds on the market, which is why it's so befuddling that they suck.

Yeah, I was going to say he has been one of the bright spots this game on D. Still is, but that takes a bit of a shine off it.  But I agree with others... better to make a mistake with aggression than not...

Give me a break.  Without him the Lions score 50

Holy Crap...yeah, that's WILD. Quay Walker has been by FAR the best defensive player all game. No, I will NOT be happy when a 6'4 dude with elite speed and a non-stop motor is gone.

I really hope that was a reactionary comment and we can be a little more level headed(and not push a trainer).

Ok let me rephrase.   He’s one of the few that are doing anything worthwhile

It's not that befuddling. No matter how good the guys are, they can only play to the system they're given, and the coaching and the system sucks. Sucks.

How often do you see a 30 yard FG blocked? They didn't need a game changing play. They needed to get the ball back down 13 with 8 minutes left.

You're far more likely to make a game changing play the other way. The Lions got the game changing play.

Your actions have to be appropriate for the situation. There's a time and a place for aggression, there's a time and place to be passive. That was not a time to be aggressive. You're down 6 and they're kicking the FG with a minute left, then by all means be aggressive. Not here.

Nixon doesn’t have a clue

He's lost us 30-40 yards by not kneeling...

Bottom line, if Jones is healthy enough to suit, 5 rushes for 17 just can’t happen.  It just can’t.  I’ve defended MLF, but this is getting to the point where he has to be held accountable for this.  Jones is the offense, he is the only real star, and he needs to be used as such.  Full stop.

A couple of weeks ago, former Packer Mike Daniels said that (his teams) needed a guy like Walker.  He said he would 10x rather have to tell a guy to calm down than try to light a fire under his butt.

Nixon had his 15 minutes of fame last year. Can Bisaccia now teach him how to just take a knee?

He’s killing the field position.   Losing 5-10 yards on every return.

I am not befuddled. I am Joe Barry-ed.

They are NEVER doing anything to create confusion and it's all about your man beating the man in front of you. He gives his players NO advantages whereas...EVERY good DC does. No free runners, no different looks in coverage. MAYBE he'll run a stunt and that's it.

I wish to hell I could find the video of Jim Leonhard's blitz packages. I watched it 3-4 times and it's NOT gimmicky College stuff, it's the type of stuff that works at any level.

My guess is that Jones isn't 100% and that MLF was using him as a decoy.  5 rushes for 17 yards says he wasn't ready for a full workload.

Wicks has been MIA tonight...

To be fair, that last one, we needed a return for a TD to have it be a real game.

but yah…all season, it has been annoying. More often he gets a flag so we start on the 10 versus an extra year past the 26 yard line.
