It's almost painful to watch us win, because I know all that's really happening is Joe Barry has just bought himself a little more time against a JV version of a bad offense.

silver lining, is injuries on the defensive side of the ball have forced a bunch of the young defensive players onto the field this game - and these are the type of offenses that give developing defensive players opportunities to build some confidence.

Brooks, Van Ness, Valentine, Wooden are flashing today - yes it's against a bad team, but it's better than them not making plays.

The youth on this roster needs to be on the field for the rest of this season for it to have any longterm value for future seasons.

Dillon picked a terrible spot to bounce that 3rd and short run...it was blocked up and wide open on the left side and he went the opposite direction.

It’s a small thing, but love stepped up and drove that ball to the outside, and Doubs made a great hands catch coming back to the ball. More of that all around, please.

You know, when you aren’t going three and out with a million penalties left and right, you can get into your playbook and do a few things.  Who knew?

In half a season, here are the positives I’m sure about with this team:  Aaron Jones is good, and we can still beat LA and Chicago.  That’s it, that’s the list.  Everything else is a ???

The ridiculous thing is, after this W the Packers will be roughly 1 game back in the standings for a playoff berth in the NFC.  They are peak NFL blob right now.

Love seeing us incorporate the tush push. If it's legal and works for everyone else, why not us?

Love more that we didn't get penalized on that one.

Why are we seriously not just taking a knee?

Eh, three possession lead, and hard to argue the offense couldn’t use the reps.  Little risk, and a bit of gain.

Van Ness doesn't impress me at all. Half a season and 6 tackles and 1 sack. First rounders should so a little more.

That is what most Packer fans said about Rashan Gary his rookie year, too!

That's the thing though. You can't have a 2-3 year learning curve for every single first round prospect. Rookie contracts are just too valuable. So while Gary in a vacuum was a good pick, there does need to be some weight put on the NFL readiness of a rookie.

Did Rhyan do anything to come back off the field after he subbed in for Runyan because Runyan couldn't line up onsides?  Missed part of the 2nd quarter - I thought Rhyan started out pretty good there.

He did look good.  Not sure why Runyan got benched, but Rhyan had two 1:1s against Aaron Donald in that series and he stoned him both times.  Rhyan came back in during the last series for Jenkins at LG too.

If you stand up Aaron Donald twice in 1:1s you don't suck.  Not sure why Runyan is playing ahead of him, as Runyan hasn't been good.  But what was really interesting is that Rhyan got the nod over Newman.

I think the Runyan benching that series had to do with him lining up offsides on that 4th and 1 attempt the drive prior - what was troubling to me is after the fact Rhyan came in and performed well that Runyan was back on the field later in the game.  If you're going to finally start sending an accountability message for making those kind of mental mistakes, you shouldn't get your spot back on the field if the guy who subbed in for you performs well.

We know what Runyan is...but there was a reason he was a 6th round pick a couple years ago - I think Rhyan needs to get on the field more.  Jenkins has had an uneven, injury-filled 2023 - however, wondering if there is any thought to trying him back at LT and potentially inserting Rhyan next to him at LG?

Hopefully this will do two things:

1. Light a fire under runyans butt

2. Eventually start Rhyan at LG and move Jenkins to center.

This is just a cool play design:

Life's been busy, but wanted to add my $0.02 here.  Maybe it's worth less (or worthless?)...

Love has put together a couple of nice games.  He still has a couple "aim" balls that tend to go off accuracy, but far more just let 'er rip.  He has a good arm, but too often looks like he is trying to finesse it in this year. Did better there.

Dillon - maybe his best game of the season?  A couple bad runs, but had some very nice ones too.  Finding more of the holes instead of just running into OL.  I'm starting to wonder if he should have Deguara's job as a HB?

Wicks - He continues to impress - fumble or not. The embodiment of why route running > athleticism.

Valentine - he has been up and down all season, but I'm excited to see him get more opportunity now.  Certainly a starting CB in the league.  Just needs some refinement and/or experience.  Looks very natural out there.

Johnson - likewise.  Nice to see him step up and have a good game at safety.

Rhyan - Was happy to see him out there, even for a few snaps. Looked good.  Way better than Newman. Maybe he is the first to break the 3rd rounder streak?

Brooks - I keep getting KGB flashbacks when I see him out there (physical resemblance), but Brooks has really made an impact on the field (very different player than KGB).

Wooden - has been up and down, but didn't disappoint in Clark's absence.  Will be interesting to see how much of a 2nd year jump he can make.

McDuffie - Reminds me of an old-school MLB.  Not really a speed, sideline-to-sideline guy, but a solid tackler and run-stuffer.  Great backup guy.

Defense - yeah, against a backup QB, but they did what they needed to and made him look bad.  Defense has actually been decent for a few games.

Offense - Improving, but still below average as a whole.  They really need to find something that sparks them at the beginning of a game.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

I can't understand Newman, but you could see last year during the family day 1 on 1's where he would go vs Wyatt, when he latched onto him, he was moving him, otherwise, Wyatt was beating him bad. I wonder if he's just better as a run blocker. Or...maybe he's just a good OG and we've been slow to adjust.
