I was disappointed that Toro didn't get more of a shot last year when we struggled offensively.  Maybe he wouldn't have continued his numbers in a bigger role, but now we will never know.

The pitcher coming back has a strong last name, but that’s about it. Toro wasn’t impressive in his few opportunities, so I’m sure the Brewers weren’t going to tender him anyway .

getting a reliever to send to the lab was the best return they were going to get

A potential starter with 3 option years is fairly useful. Having choices in your 6th-10th starters who are cheap helps prevent those big collapses so I'm onboard with the move even if the net value is small.

Toro still had the best season of anyone in that trade last year, but he clearly wasn’t in the Brewers plans.

That trade was horrible for the Mariners and Brewers, probably both want to forget it and move on

I think that puts the Brewers' currently at 35 guys on their 40 man roster...without accounting for non-tenders that are probably coming.  I expect a ton of roster churn over the next couple weeks, and even that shouldn't prevent multiple prospects from being added next spring

Got something more than just releasing him, the pitcher we get could hit 97 when drafted and maybe a good candidate to move to the bullpen. I agree with others that Toro should have gotten a little run/chance last year.

This deal makes no sense for the Brewers(not that we are giving up much, but this Patrick guy seems very meh on paper), so naturally we should expect Patrick to be the 2024 Payamps/Peguero/Milner/Torres/etc.....

We struggled at 2B and 3B offensively all of last year (aside from short bursts from Turang and Monestario), Toro hits 444/524/778/1302 (in 21 PAs), and still couldn't get bigger cup of coffee.

Most like a AAAA or backup utility guy, but would've been nice to see a bit more of him.

For Chad Patrick, looks like a high K rate guy, but also high walks and hits/9.  Not a great combo.  But looks like SP depth.  Maybe they see something in his repertoire to tweak?
