Brock Wilken is interesting.  More evidence that they plan on being fairly aggressive with him.

Black and Gasser are more likely than not.  Myers has a chance if they have a few injuries in the bullpen.   Hopefully Rodriguez will not - that would mean several injuries to starters.

I have my doubts that Gasser will make the opening day roster……more likely during the season IMO

Black is the only one of that group that I would view as having a good chance of breaking with the club for opening day.

Obviously the roster is going to change between now and spring training.

I am hoping that Wilken forces his way onto the roster by midseason.  That may be a little lofty of an expectation though.

I think Black is on the opening day roster.

Hasn't it been happening quite often lately they invite the 1st rd picks to camp? Or is that a 2nd season thing?

No huge shocks, but seeming confirmation the Brewers are at least somewhat high on Clarke and Myers.

Brenton Del Chiaro (Brewers minor league hitting coordinator) mentioned Clarke twice in interviews recently as one of his sleeper picks/player to watch.

Looking forward to seeing him this spring.

Hmmm. Based on the lack of corner IF signings, it's possible the team views Wilken as having a chance to impact the big league club sooner rather than later.

I think that another corner IF signing is almost guaranteed to happen before the season starts though. And I wouldn't interpret that as them not thinking Wilken could have an impact. They just wouldn't go into the season with this little depth.

Mind you, I don't expect it to be one of the bigger names out there (i.e Hoskins, Chapman or the likes). Santana is probably the biggest signing we could expect.

Agree they sign a Santana/Cooper for this season.

I don’t think we see Wilken touch MKE until September at the earliest with 2025 being his season to take over 3B, with Black moving to 1B.

It will be very interesting seeing how Pat Murphy will put a roster together after spring training.  With Counsell gone, will that mean we won't have a scrappy, toolsey player(s) that is put on the roster ahead of clearly better players?

I've liked Wilken since they drafted him, so I hope they are sorta fast-tracking him and, hopefully, in the starting lineup by April 2025.

Was he invited last spring?  By the looks of his stats for last season would be why not invited this season.  Or health?  I did say quite often so not always. Just feel like all 3 of Mitchell, Frelick, and Turang got ST invites?

No power...but .265/.362 with 37 steals is pretty good. Speed makes up for lack of SLG.  I have no idea on his defense though, which is probably the make or break characteristic on if he has a decent shot at the Show or not.

That's usually an annual thing, "nice" prospects & recent high picks getting big-league eyes on them in camp for a little bit . . . and then they're usually most of the first/early batch of cuts.  It's been happening for at least a couple decades.

I like prospects as much as anyone, but this annual group of invitees, while pretty much always interesting, is usually non-news in terms of their chances to make the Brewers' Opening Day roster.

Right. Turang carries his lack of power here moving forward because his defense and baserunning. Add that the guy doesn't have to bat in top of the order.

It's still early in Brown's advancement so guys that carry high OB to me is questionable carrying all the way to MLB as the pitchers get more control and better overall making batters whiff with their stuff. Pretty much his stat line I'm dropping 75-100 OPS which leaves him in the 600s.

Anyway enough bout Brown.

Wilken hopefully shows off some defense on top a couple bombs.
