This is the guy I want.

They've requested an interview with Orr too. This is very very encouraging on both fronts.

Needless to say, it would certainly appear those whispers of Christian Parker being offered certainly seem as though they were misheard .

Chris Hewitt is another defense coach (passing game coordinator and secondary coach) that I like. Ravens staff may be crushed this offseason with DC hires :)

Orr is interesting. Very young for a coach at only 31. Undrafted free agent in 2014 who worked his way into a starting role with the Ravens and was a 2nd team All-Pro in 2016 before being forced to retire due to a congenital spinal condition. He also has a Wisconsin connection, as his youngest brother, Chris, was a star MLB at Wisconsin.

I don't know anything about anyone they are interviewing, but I'm encouraged that the net is being cast far and wide to hopefully get the best one.

Here's Wilde on the early Christian Parker unvetted rumors:

Seems like it was possibly unsubstantiated but shouldn't be dismissed. Anywho, here's one of the purported internet rumor starters further substantiating (or back-tracking sneakily😂) their offerings:

AND, on the GB side of things, we have this:

Maybe this is some sort of leak test.  Tell someone a thing see if it gets out to the media.  If it does you know someone that has some loose lips.

But it would still be funny if they do.  Also I am just poking the foam cheese heads.

Seahawks hiring Mcdonald. Which means Ravens will need a DC, also Mcdonald will probably want to bring one of his assistants to seatlle. Packers better act fast if they want one of these Ravens assistants.

I doubt any of them would take a Seattle assistant position over the Packer's DC spot.  The Ravens DC spot however...

agreed, maybe I didn't come off clear enough, I wouldn't be surprised if one was a DC in Seattle and one in Baltimore. there are 3 decent DC candidates on that staff, so packers should act if they want their pick (assuming that those 3 won't wait to wait it out to see what seattle and baltimore wants to do). Personally I think it makes Parker the choice.

I believe it would be a mistake for the Packers to hastily make a decision because they feel forced to. There are plenty of high-end DC options out there. Do your homework, and let the chips fall.

I imagine not a single one of us know anything about Hafley, here's an hour interview:

Has a lotta experience with NFL secondaries and coordinated an Urban Meyer defense. This is a really good interview - you can see behind the curtain. Why he wanted to be a coordinator again and get back to the NFL. He wants to prioritize coaching and explicitly mentions his deep desire to coach more defense and grt back to coaching DB's again.

Leading a college team to bowl eligibility 3 out of 4 years is a pretty low bar to qualify to become an NFL defensive coordinator. You'll excuse me if I contain my excitement. I've seen too much to expect anything will change defensively.

I absolutely understand your hesitancy. He did it at Boston College in the NIL and Transfer era. BC is essentially a glorified Ivy League team in the ACC. I recommend you look at the 7 years of NFL secondaries he coached. He coached Darrell Revis in college. He was a holdover on Shanahan's staff and worked two years with Salah. Has a distinct connection to both LaFleurs. He clearly wants to get back to purely coaching football. I highly recommend that interview I posted.

He also worked under Mike Pettine.

I am starting to like Hafley, but I don't like this

You know who else did? Kyle Shanahan. What's your point? Pettine was the failed HC there. It's experience in the NFL. It's a non-factor for me.

If MLF doesn’t get over the hump with Hafley, he won’t get another do-over. I’ve made my position known elsewhere, so I won’t reiterate the depths of my skepticism. Nothing for it now but to hope I’m wrong, but they aren’t making it easy.
