Only 46 innings but good average to above average numbers in BB/9, HR/9, SO/9 and H/9. Also see he has "stupendous" slider. Interesting lotto ticket.

Not a bad lotto ticket.

Am I crazy for loving the fact that we got even a lotto ticket prospect for Andrews?  I'm honestly not sure if I could love this deal anymore than I do?  Never in a million years did I think we'd be able to fetch anything for a guy like Andrews, so to get a young 19 year old pitcher that maybe has some upside is pretty exciting to me.

Cleared a 40 man roster spot. And got an interesting young pitcher. Making room for a spring training overachiever?

Andrews was designated for assignment to make room for Junis.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Honestly I'm happy Andrews is with a different organization altogether regardless of the return, so there wasn't the risk of him latching onto a minor league deal with Nashville and then finding his way back up to get shelled in Milwaukee in June.

The fact they got anyone with more upside than AAAA fodder they don't have to put on the 40 man in order to retain them in return is kind of surprising.

Andrews was one of favorite minor leaguers. His numbers in Nashville were pretty good but it’s undeniable that he was awful in the majors. The fact that the Yankees gave up something somewhat decent for him indicates that they think there is a chance he can rebound and help them. This is a move that the team may regret.
what if the brewers gave up on Burnes after a horrible rookie year?

Brewers very sneakily cornering the Nicaraguan baseball market. Germany is next! Stay tuned babyyyyy.

I once stayed at a hostel/hotel run by a German guy on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica.  It was an open air type of place and he liked to feed the coatis that ran all over the place.  In a very ASMR type of way he sharpened the kitchen knives for us before we borrowed them.

Nicaragua is close to Costa Rica.

Apples and oranges. Burnes always profiled as a high-end starting pitcher. Even when he was terrible his rookie year, the stuff was evident. Andrews's upside, though, was probably middle relief. While important, that is a value that is much more easily recouped.

I understand that. I get that Andrews ceiling is maybe a middle reliever.  My point is that he can still be a competent MLB reliever and the brewers gave up on him after 4 MLB appearances and 3 1/3 innings.

That's baseball. That's the life of a middle reliever. The Brewers themselves currently have a handful of relievers who they have gotten good results out of after other teams essentially either gave up on them or gave them away for little in return - Payamps, Milner, Peguero, Megill, Bryce Wilson. It wouldn't be a surprise if Andrews became a solid middle reliever. It also wouldn't be a surprise if he never sees Yankee Stadium, either. In the end, it's a good thing that the Brewers feel they have solid enough relief pitching depth that they can cut bait on a player like Andrews who still has upside, at least in one well-run team's eyes.

I get it, I Just don't want to see the thread in a year about how we gave up too early, see Bickford, Phil.

Bickford is the perfect example both ways. He seemingly came out of nowhere to be nails for the Dodgers in 2021 after the Brewers dumped him, but since then he's been below replacement level, to the point where he was essentially given away by the Dodgers last August.

You know prospects better than I ever will. Is there a 40 man guy you would've let go before Andrews, or would you rather not have done the Junis signing and kept them all?

It's good that we have a lot of talented guys who deserve 40 man spots, so I'm glad we were able to get a promising 19-year-old to add to the system who won't have 40 man consideration for years for a guy who we had DFA'd and could have got nothing.
