Didn't pitch well enough to win today. Good battle. Get the series tomorrow with your best pitcher on the mound.

I think you really have to be patient with Assad. He's not known for being efficient. Hasn't clocked six yet this year.

It's so killer to have a struggling bullpen. Has the Cubs' schedule been pretty easy? It's hard for me to believe they have 20 wins with their injuries on offense and very shaky bullpen. Lot of similarities between the Cubs and Brewers, honestly, other than Chicago's massive financial advantage. Must suck for them to have so much more on the resource side and it basically translates to....us owning them the last half decade.

What a rally, bummed they lost but not bummed they scored 5 runs in the last couple innings of the game!

The whole world every year: "Your umpires are really, really bad at their job. You should do something about that."

MLB every year: "Hmm, you're absolutely right. We definitely need to continue to modernize and improve the pace of play."

Someone did post that. I think they said that the Cubs opponents had a winning percentage of .450 and the Brewers opponents were at .550.

I would caution that this early in the season that difference may not be that significant. A difference of .100 over 30 games is just 3 games. So you’re talking about a record of  16.5-13.5 vs 13.5-16.5. After the teams have played 120 games or more and you are looking at the difficulty of the remaining schedules, a difference like that would be much more significant. A difference of .100 would be a difference of 12 games

Plus, some undeniably good teams are off to so so starts. Even  though their records are about the same, I would still say that playing the Rangers is tougher than playing the Mets.

Judging schedule difficulty based just on opponents won loss records also doesn’t factor in home games vs road games. Before this series the Cubs had played 19 away games (including a road trip to San Diego, Seattle, and Arizona) and 13 home games. They were 10-3 in those games, including 5-1 against the Dodgers and Astros.

I think it would be wrong to attribute the Cubs record to an easy schedule. Like the Brewers, they have done well despite some significant adversity.

Tyler Black moment in 3.2.1

When he decides to fix the front foot he might be able to handle big league pitching routinely. With very few exceptions guys with a massive front foot lift are not long time Big League producers.

It's a flashing neon sign for big league pitchers to speed change a guy to death.

Works good in slow pitch softball though.

2 bad ump calls killed us

AGAIN!

I agree 100%.  Brewers get more bad calls than the Bucks on fouls.  Makes me think big time sports does'nt like Milwaukee.

Charles Barkley even said it.

I agree with that also, you can't keep your head from bobbing, stepping into a pitch doing that.  It has to make it a lot harder to make contact doing that.

To many guys get through the Brewers system with significant mechanical issues.

They can hit "Throwers" in the minors but when they actually have to face "Pitchers" they get exposed.

They have been trying to quiet Wiemer's bat movement also and have been a little sucessful.

Has anyone heard about his knee????

There is absolutely nothing wrong with his front foot.  Judge has been perfectly fine with this front foot and the same with Harper.  Oh look Trout also does this.  I guess this leg kick thing shouldn't be working for them.

A quick edit I can't believe I forgot about the horrible Julio Rodriguez.  Man these guys suck so bad because of the leg kick.

Agreed. I don't think it's his footwork or his timing. He's getting some pitches to hit and he's just not hitting them and then he's seeing MLB pitching for the first time. We'll see where he hits when Yelich is back but overall it looks like his bat is pretty good and quick and I think he'll hit.

Choice.

I agree, its eary and you have to give him a chance and if we had won we probably would not be disgussing it.

While they have some leg lift none of them have Blacks or Huiras.

Harper

Judge

Trout

Huira

Black

Trout is the most extreme of the big names.

Maybe every hitter is different and lets not predict Black's entire career in 15 AB's? Excessive movement ala Wiemer is definitively bad news but a leg kick is not inherently bad.

Missed almost all of the game today. Saw Blacks' K in the 9th inning & it looked to me that the problem was more him 'coming out of himself' & trying a little too hard to make something happen than anything else. I expected a little better discipline from him there. His past work speaks for itself so it'll come.

Not a big fan of exaggerated leg kicks, but I think the rest of his body is quiet enough & the hands are very quick.
