Against Freddy, the Cubs will need a Medi !!!

Brew Crew won't be sad when facing Assad !!!

The only thing that can give us a throat lump ...

is a menacing Cubs ump!

I know it's about winning the game, but short of that, I love the anxiety the Brewers have to be causing everyone in Wrigleyville regarding their bullpen. What a stark difference between the two teams.

I’d love to win this series man…Not only my hatred for the Cubs, but especially for my hatred of Clownsell.

That said if I had one weakness as a team that I think is easiest to fix mid season it is the bullpen, so I'm all for taking advantage now because they could come on very strong at the end if they make some improvements there.

Assad game log stats:

He has faced only one team with a winning record this season, so lets expose him today.

Joey Ortiz on the bench again. 3 days in a row. Tyler Black still hitting 3rd. Pain.

Yeah, I don't like Black in the 3 spot. We have better hitters right now. It's sacrificing quality to get the alternating handedness, which is something I've seen more of the last week or so, even though we didn't really care about it early on. Maybe it's prioritizing platoon advantage against a bad bullpen?

I can see the logic for it, but I'd honestly rather hit Turang in that spot if you absolutely must have a lefty.

I’d love to see Ortiz get more time in the lineup … after all, we traded Burnes for him & Hall (who has floundered).

No doubt, Ortiz has the better “glove” - but Dunn seems to have a better “arm” from 3rd … apparently, Murph loves Dunn.

I’m surprised that Sanchez is getting so few opportunities (I’m not disappointed). He appears to only DH when we face a lefty (which is good).

I don’t like our current roster construction. I assume Monasterio & Turang are OF options in addition to Bauers (whom I would be fine if he were DFA’d).

Any chance Counsell’s knowledge of Freddy Peralta & his tendencies could bite us today?

I doubt it……Peralta has been around a long time…….with all the data available every team knows what he likes to throw in different situations.

Comes down to execution and sometimes luck

I hate not seeing Ortiz. Top 100 prospect who we traded our ace for, a top 5 SP in MLB, and is OPSing in the .800s. I could understand not starting him vs lefties because he hasn't hit them well this year (I still think platooning prospects is stupid), but against a righty??? And the option is Dunn, with an OPS vs RHP almost 300 points less. A former Rule 5 pick that the Phillies were not looking to protect, who was traded for Robert Moore and Hendry Mendez, who were solid prospects but nowhere near the caliber of Ortiz.

Dunn has a place in the team, sure. He is not the starting 3B

Agree. Freddy has a lively ball, and when he hits his spots, he's tough. But lucky hits and the calls of the ump. You never know.

Add me in as wanting to see more of Ortiz. But I'd tap the brakes on any negativity re Hall. It's pretty obvious that even before the IL stint he wasn't right. I'm hearing his velo is starting to come back. Looking forward to seeing what he can give us down the road.

I do have to give Dunn props for his defense at 3B. He probably saved us a run or 2 in Fridays' game. Maybe some sort of nagging thing w/Ortiz' arm or shoulder is holding him back from everyday duty. As you said, the throws have been so-so.

The roster does look a little disjointed. Yelich hopefully back soon. Plugging him back into the 3-hole should flesh out the batting order somewhat. IMO lots of 6-7-8 type hitters hitting higher than they should right now.

They might be trying to stay away from Sanchez for a few days, made easier by no LH starters this weekend.

Brewers have 0 runs on 5 hits this series against the Cubs starters.

Need to be better today.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Never, ever take a 3rd strike ... protect the plate ... get hacking ... forget hoping for a walk ... anything close, get swinging ... my philosophy as a hitting coach!

Hire me, Brewers!  It's the correct approach!

Frelick has been a major disappointment for the Brewers. I wonder what kind of return we would get in a trade?
