What's even more dumbfounding in that Oakland basically flipped us Contreras and Payamps for Esteury Ruiz. That's crazy. They could have just kept those guys.

Also, we even got Justin Yeager as a throw in. He may be in our bullpen in a couple of years.

All for Esteury Ruiz.

Not really for Ruiz.

Atlanta wanted Sean Murphy.

The same guy who said anything can happen in one game. 😃

Amen Brother, is Pay Murphy the next Harvey Kuenn?

Just a suggestion ... It might be good to let Ortiz play regularly

With Dunn going down it looks like management agrees.

I just hope they didn’t decide they need another OF because of concerns about Yelich.

Might be that Chourio will be going down soon.

And apparently Oakland wanted Ruiz so badly they pulled in a third team rather than just take Contreras.

Not likely.

Kuenn’s strength was letting a team that was loaded with hitting talent just play ball. Murphy’s situation is quite different.

Very true.

Oakland got five players, including Manny Pina and Kyle Muller. Atlanta got one. We got the best of that interesting deal, for sure.

I'm not saying Joey Ortiz is a superstar, but he absolutely has superstar potential. His power is very real and he seems to be learning how to better tap into it this year. The ceiling is super high for the kid.

Of course, but the only reason to involve Milwaukee in that trade is because they wanted Ruiz and/or really didn't want Contreras.

There's the superstar talent....You can count on one hand (and not use up all of your fingers) the # of 20 year olds on the planet who can do that, and at the major league level.

Evidence is mounting that Perez has nothing today and was just being left out there to take one for the team since they don’t have the day off tomorrow.

One of the reasons I don’t get overly excited about really high scoring blowout games. They often include several runs against the dregs of the bullpen, a pitcher left in to absorb punishment and, sometimes, a position player.

If nothing else he has earned the right to play every day for awhile.

It was the combination of players from Atlanta and Milwaukee that made all that possible. The As were building a roster.

It is interesting that Atlanta calculated that Sean Murphy was preferable to William.
