So Bauers is 213. Who do you think has more potential?

No I don't but neither one plays all the time.

Bauers has been...okay? But I'd rather have Black.

Has Monasterio even been in a game in a week? I don't really care about the last spot on the roster, but it seems like maybe there's a better use for that spot if the guy in it is not going to see the field ever.

If Black played 1B defense anywhere near as competently as Bauers Black would be up

The addition of the DH in the NL has really changed roster construction.

The fact that the Brewers prioritize defense seems to still surprise some fans even after all this time.

All things considered, pitching was fine today. The zero runs off the bases loaded was the killer.

Yeah, that and the play at the plate. We had our chances.

Darn, Gary scorched that. It would have been nice to see the tying run get aboard for Rhys. Rough second inning and the bases loaded, with no runs, screwed us.

Not quite good enough tonight. Missed chances, Wheeler made pitches when he needed to, and Wilson struggled in his first inning.

Pitching matchups won't get any easier. I don't believe we've been swept yet this year, which is pretty impressive. Hoping we can at least keep that streak alive. Let's win tomorrow and have a chance at the series.

Probably not because he didn’t also leave a couple other of the top hitters out of the lineup at the same time.

If you think for one second that Phillies fans as a group are more rational than Brewers fans, that’s proof that you never lived in that area.

Nah. They lost the game. Leaving him on the bench if they felt he should be used late would supercede who else was/wasn't in the lineup. Non-factor.

As a group no, they aren't more rational. They ARE comparitively heavy on the passion.

Considering it was Wheeler, the ABs weren't great but could've been worse. I actually thought Turangs' AB with the bases loaded was well put-together up until, of course, the last pitch. Then you still had a chance to snatch momentum w/2nd & 3rd and 2 out and Contreras turned in one of the 2 or 3 worst at-bats of the game IMO. Probably the only one in the lineup who I'd say never had a respectable trip to the plate (maybe Yelich as well)

Wilson settled in well, but this was a day you couldn't afford him to take 20-25 pitches to do so. The hindsight machine would crank out that maybe Koenig should've gone two.

Anyone know what the Phillies payroll is?

Where are they in the pecking order?

In 2024, the Major League Baseball franchise Philadelphia Phillies had a team payroll, including benefits and bonuses, of 254 million U.S. dollars.

But I also am willing to trust the organization at this point. Unless there's a rift between what Murphy wants and what the FO wants, I feel like the Brewers have earned the benefit of the doubt.

They have. Some seem concerned that Chourio is going to be a platoon bat, and I don't think that's going to happen. Looking at tonights' lineup in a vacuum I think his not playing has more to do with Wheeler than anything else.

To me it's simple who is playing while he is sitting. If the answer is Jake Bauers he should be in there somewhere.

Can't prove it of course but I overwhelmingly believe that if Chourio was playing tonight Bauers would've still been in the lineup.
