No different that a waiver claim, really.  Not many teams selling right now and teams are surely asking for an arm and a leg and another arm for anyone.  Will be different in a month.

The AL is starting to shake out.  Five teams at least seven wins out of the wild card, six teams at least six wins out, seven teams five wins out.  Just need to keep the ship afloat for another month (of which, five days are off for the All-Star break).

All hands on deck type situation with the Crew to get through the dog days of summer. I hope we bring back every former Cy Young winner no matter the age if it only costs us cash to see if they can give us 5 good innings.

Milwaukee is a great place for you to make some final memories Dallas. Keep the ball low.

This is essentially a minor league signing so no issue here. I'd rather see Chad Patrick get starts than Keuchel. But who know, maybe they can do some Teheran magic and get a few good starts out of him.

Newly aquired (ish) RHP Joel Kuhnel says 'Not so fast, Mr. Kuechel!'. The Brewers staff/brass must have liked what they saw in his past two outings vs Durham. In his last relief outing (after Ashby and Meeker had really done the heavy lifting for the Sounds allowing 14 runs combined - whewwww), 1 2/3 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 3 K, 0 R, Kuhnel tossed 29 pitches. He allowed a max exit velo of 88 mph. He has a five-pitch mix (4-seamer, cutter, sinker, slider, change-up) with extremes of 79 ish mph to 96 ish mph. Sits 85-to-94. Primarily works his 4-seamer, sinker, slider. BUT, will use the cutter and change-up to keep hitters thinking. Hitters managed a 0.211 BAA in his June relief work for the Sounds (four outings in total). His WHIP is elevated due to a 2 H, 2 BB debut inning of work. It sits at 1.40 with Nashville. It will be interesting to see how his stuff fares should he stick or if this is a classic Brewers 2024 stop-gap for a future DFA. You really never know this season.

I know nothing about Kuhnel. But the 5-pitch mix along with the 15-16 MPH difference in his stuff sounds good.

This move is proof that it doesn't take much to make this board happy.

I'll go on record and say there is not a chance in hell this ends well...

Oh well, when you have to shop in dumpsters,  it could always be worse.

Not expecting a lot, but it can’t really hurt and we didn’t have to give up any prospects. This will allow Rodriguez to go to AAA and figure things out. He was probably losing confidence. It was unfortunate he was forced into the rotation this year to begin with.

Yeah this has awful forthcoming. At same time, there's likely 1 solid start also coming.  Probably an elbow injury on 2nd or 3rd start.

I mean... the general consensus of the responses here are a glance up from their lunch and a shrug and then back to their day. Happy isn't really a word I would describe the tone lol..

This is no different than Tehran which was ok until it wasn’t. I don’t think anyone is doing backflips today but are open to the possibility that he could be serviceable

I’m guessing Kuenel is just a placeholder until Kuechel is ready to join the team

Slightly encourage…

We are Doing something about the small fire brewing in the starters room of the Brewers’ house…. And doing something now rather than waiting til the last week of July.

Wouldn't surprise me. Even a little bit.

As a fan, it's WAY beyond frustrating, constantly being led to believe the organization is "going for it", then watching the team continually not actually go for it, and make a trade(s) to actually go for it. Especially with the stacked farm system we currently have. Can you say "gaslighting", because that's basically what they constantly do with our fan base. It's sort of like the old State Farm commercial, with the old guy with the fishing pole.

Fully on board with this - they could even bring in one still in his pitching prime instead of one who has been washed up for several years.

Trading Burnes and Chourio leading off on opening day.... I'm sorry but how exactly did the Brewers indicate they were "going for it" this season?

Is this the same player who really isn't that great without the sticky stuff and who also has pictures going around social over the past month that indicate he is romantically involved with his agent?

If it's on the internet it must be true

I didn't think Edwin won a Cy Young, though

Maybe the Brewers should put a call in to Greinke. He’s had more recent major league success than Keuchel.

In sincerity the Brewers coaching staff has earned the benefit of the doubt; they must feel they can get Keuchel to a place where he can go through the opposing batting order twice and keep the Brewers in the game. That’s better than Rodriguez so it’s worth a shot.
