Actually 2 hits in the last 8 innings but who’s counting .

No big deal at least the Nats don't suck as much as the White Sox.

This will be the fourth straight series we fail to win, and three of those teams we played have losing records. What is going on behind closed doors at AmFam?

The team is fading.  Not much more to say than that.

Getting 3 or 4 innings most nights from the starters has caught up with them.

Thank God for the All Star break coming after 1 one game. We look tired.

Not going to defend how they've been playing, no one could. But I think there's too much sauce put on the fact that it's been the Rockies-Pirates-Nats. The Brewers aren't playing well. When that happens you're going to lose more than your share regardless of the opponent. This ain't the NFL.

The 2023 team swept the eventual WS champs. On the road. And got swept by the A's. At home. That's why I harp on the consistency thing. How you're playing, not who. Megill couldn't land the breaking pitch when it would've almost certainly been effective. Blake Perkins gets to a 2-1 count w/a runner on 3rd & one out & can't touch the ball. But then I have to listen to Brian Anderson saying we "need a moment". No Brian, when you can't buy your way to glory you need fundamental consistency. Shut up.

Feel like the Brewers have looked this way since the second half of May. It just hasn't caught up to them until now.

Wheels coming off before the break. We have seen it before and bounced back not really worried. Just tuned in why is Yelich out? I saw he was hbp in box last night…

Sometimes they’ve bounced back after having the wheels come off just before or just after the break, and sometimes they haven’t (2007, 2014, 2017 for example).

The early and mid 70’s also had some colossally bad second halfs that revealed the truth  about the teams that had flirted near the top of the standings, Most of the posters here are probably not old enough to remember those

We’re going to find out if this is actually a good team or if most of the first half was a mirage.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Why? So we can continue to be a second tier team?

While I appreciate no longer being an also ran I admit to having fatigue of feeling like this team will never be capable of winning a World Series which really needs to be the ultimate goal.

Any team that has its ultimate goal as winning the WS will be an absolute joke of a franchise.  Just look at the Angels and Mets as proof of this.

Power went out for me during Perkins' at bat in the first inning and I wasn't powered back on until 8:30 or so. I saw all the good stuff and none of the bad.

Sitting in the dark was preferable to watching them blow a 5-run lead.

Mets and Angels have won WS.

Winning a WS is the whole point of all of this and is every teams goal.  Its the reason every team plays and every front office tries to build a roster that first tries to compete, then contend, then try to have a playoff run, then ultimately win a ring.

Baseball is a game of dealing with failure,  While the recent success the Crew has had and the participation banners they have won is nice and all, it just highlights the fact that we still lose the last game of the season.

Each year there is only 1 team that actually wins the season.  The other 29 teams, its just degrees of failure.

And when was the last time they won these WS’s?

If your only goal is to win the WS then you are going to fail a lot and be miserable because of this.

Mets have been to the WS in 1969,1973,1986,2000,2015.  Winning in '69 and '86.  Franchise has been in the league since 1962.

Angels have been to the WS in 2002.  Winning it in 2002. Franchise has been in the league since 1961.

Brewers have been to the WS in 1982 and lost it to the Cardinals in seven. Brewers have been in the league since 1969(70) depending on how you count.

Failure and dealing with failure was my point on my post.

At best, the most a fan can hope, with 30 teams, is that your team goes to the WS once about every 30 years.

But the goal for every franchise is to win the WS.

Read box score but not play by play. Haase hit a 2run RBI in the 1st that was off the 1st RP brought in.  The 2Runs were SP's responsibility and not the RP.  That's the 3rd hit. But do I credit the 2 runs to the RP side or SP side?

Winning the World Series is a goal, but not the “whole point”.

From the perspective of the teams and their owners, they are in the entertainment business, and their goal is to generate fan interest and revenue in the form of attendance, TV revenue, and merchandise sales. Those goals can be accomplished by producing teams that are competitive and entertaining, even if they don’t actually win the World Series.

If all teams were on a completely level playing field, winning a World Series once every 30 years would be a realistic expectation, and more than that would be a bonus. But, we all know that market size and revenue potential are not equal, so it is more than pure chance that in the last 30 years only 16 of the 30 franchises have won a World Series.

What, so we shouldn't set the goal of winning a World Series because you will be miserable when you fail??

Man it seems like every year we limp into the allstar break.

I think the goal is winning the world series every year but with the lower payroll/smaller fan base it is hard to go all in.

Say we went all in and get Crochet, Kukuchi, and a bat like Joc Pederson. We end up hurting the farm a ton and there is no guarantee we win a ws. We cant be like the Dodgers, Mets, or Yankees wgere we can just buy 3 or 4 of the top 20 players in the league as free agents and not give up prospects. I would rather have good exciting teams every year than go all in for 1 or 2 years and suck for 5-10 years rebuilding.

I seen some video of Joc Pederson and he looks like he put on about 30 pounds.

The point went up and over your head and into outer space.  If your main goal is to win the world series then you are setting yourself up for absolute failure.

Drafting, scouting and development are a far more important goal than winning the WS.  If you can't do any of the three correctly you are not winning a WS or even coming close to making one.  So setting the goal as the WS is like staring at the bark and saying yep no forest here just bark.
