As bummed as I am about Hoskins’ performance as a Brewer, I choose to believe he will have a Winker-like improvement in year 2 after his return from injury. It’s all I got.

.235 BABIP in LAA suggests some bad luck 🙂

BABIP isn't a stat you can simply "stop" and use.  If I were playing in the MLB, my BABIP would also be low, but I can assure you that it wouldn't be because of "luck". 😉

If his BABIP is low, you need to go look at his hit stats (line drive %, launch angle, exit velocity, etc..).  If all he is doing is hitting weak ground balls, a low BABIP isn't luck.

Huira in LAA this year:

  • average EV: 82.2 (90.1 career)
  • Launch Angle: 6.3 (15.5 career)
  • Barrel: 0% (13.6 career)
  • Hard Hit %: 23.5% (43.6% career)
  • Ground Ball 64.7% (39.5% career)

Yeah, his BABIP is earned, not luck.

I wonder how close to selling the Cubs are now?

Craigs Quotes.

It was just one of those nights where they had some good at-bats and we couldn't make the next pitch or get the next out.

He also somehow didn’t draw any walks in 27 PA.

Zero in 27 PA is extreme, but lack of walks was always an issue for Keston too. From 2019-22 he posted an 83 BB%+ which ranked 170th out of 247 batters with at least 1,000 PAs over that stretch.

Of course his 160 K%+ ranked 246th (or 2nd depending on how one looks at it), and his ISO+ of 124 came in at 67th.

Hiura got the 3TO label a lot, but he was really more like 1.5TO with the lack of walks and good but not truly top level power.

Yup. Tight at the top with Gallo 161 K%+, Hiura 160 K%+, Sano 159 K%+ all just fractions and/or rounding errors apart.
