Hiura’s career WAR is 0.7. In that sense, in aggregate, he is better than a replacement level player. 🤷‍♂️

So is Ted Williams.

I wonder how close to selling the Cubs are now?

Their GM said BEFORE this series they would likely be making moves with an eye on ‘25 and beyond.

Questions are a burden.   And answers a prison for one's self.

If Yelich is indeed out for the year, you almost have to add a decent bat before the deadline.

I thought they needed a decent LH bat with some power before Yelich got hurt unless Mitchell showed he could provide that.

Now that Yelich is out it becomes more important.

Cubs must really want this one by going to the closer in a tie game.

That’s pretty common for home teams because there is no longer a chance for a save situation.

In semi seriousness, would he perform worse than any other final person on the 26 man roster at this point?

Yes he very well could. He’s got a nice -0.5 fWAR  this season in all of 27 PAs and continues to strike out 40% of the time.

A number of heroes in this one, but I'm giving it up for Perkins. Two hits, one from each side (which may prove significant moving forward) & what I thought was another pretty impressive AB, even though it didn't get the job done. With the bags full & one out you need contact, and he fell behind in the count quickly but hung in & sheared off the grounder to the 3rd base bag. Hitting from the left side there, the 3B playing that close to the line is far from SOP. Could've easily driven in a run.

Nice to see good stuff from Turang the last couple of days too. And obviously both the bulk guys in the pen. Junis can easily make his FB look 96-98 when the breaking stuff is that good. Nice weapon.

Mitchell seemed to me to be building over the last week or so. Ugly day at the plate today though.

Could've swore I heard Dillard say everyone in the BP should be available today except Koenig. Analysts need days off, too.

Nope, worst player ever, stats will be posted for proof.  Watch and see.

I don’t want to go back to last year trying to win every game 2-1 but I do enjoy following this team way better.   They just have a certain fight to them

maybe it’s the manager    Maybe it’s coincidence

If you're including both ends of the floor, to borrow a hoops term............yes.

Also in the very short term with yelich out.   Perkins needs to play.    Haase needs to play until he cools off.    That leaves Hoskins Sanchez and bauers to play first base.    One of them needs to go.    I don’t care if you make up a dl stint.

we need to play the players that hit

We'd all like to see more offensive consistency, but the run prevention philosophy has worked really, really well. With the world the Brewers live in we're much better off this way than trying to win every game 7-6.

Like with Hoskins. He may not get it going, but they're going to give him every chance to do so. There are teams that might've cut him loose by now, but most of those teams play near an ocean & can eat a contract like you or I eat a Wheat Thin.

.235 BABIP in LAA suggests some bad luck 🙂

Man, seems like since those magical months in 2019, it’s been all bad luck.

I’m not sure how many teams would cut him loose when he has an option for next season.

Many wanted Arnold to take a big swing at first base and he did so with a guy who has been a very good player in the past……as you said he may or may not find it again this season…..but they are going to ride it out with him.

It could be worse. Rhys would literally be the best hitter on the Seattle Mariners. I'm not even joking, he has a higher OPS than any qualified hitter on the Mariners roster.

Wow......make THAT into a bar bet in Milwaukee. Or in Seattle, for that matter.
