It is remarkable how bad the Braves have been for about a month now and they are still in the #1 WC spot.  If you think the Brewers were in a tailspin then the Braves are an exploding rocket.

Now here's an interesting question. In a 1-1 trade, would you trade Jackson Chourio for anyone in the league? Assuming Brewers aren't going to go crazy on payroll so no Ohtani.

Personally, I think the only player in the league I would even contemplate is Bobby Witt Jr but even then Chourio is guaranteed 3 more years of team control and cheaper.

Some would say Skenes, but hard to count on a pitcher to stay healthy and he's got 4 less years of control if he wins ROY.

Fangraphs sort of explored this question recently in their trade value series. Chourio came in at 25 behind Henderson, Witt, Skenes, Elly, Julio, etc.

But, yeah, of that list I personally would probably only entertain a 1-1 deal for Witt and Julio. But even in those cases I would think long and hard about it.

Yeah hard pass on Skenes. He's no doubt amazing, but after he wins ROY he has 5 seasons of control after this one not 6 and I will always take a star position player over a star pitcher because of the extra injury risk for pitchers.

I did read that article and they basically said if Chourio pans out he will be the top of that list and he's starting to look like a legit superstar. I think if that list gets remade at the end of the season he would be a lot higher than 25.

All season I've been beating the drum for keeping Chourio in a "less stress" spot in the order, even when he started heating up. No denying the talent, but at age 20 I thought it the wise thing to do.

Ummmmm, yeah. Nevermind.

The specialness of the kid is really coming through. Even on some of his outs, you can see the comfort level.

Painfully slow, and still not a constant, but Hoskins appears to be getting there. Not only the power, but laying off & fouling off breaking pitches he had no chance on awhile ago.

A really magnificent idea on the bunt right after the triple in the seventh. But a really lousy bunt. Would like to know if the idea was Turangs' or the dugouts'.

Maybe not pitch to Ozuna the next two days.

Plus we have Chourio for 7 more years……we’d have to trade Skenes after 4

9 more years because Chourio has 2 club options.

I know it's just 1 inning, but if Brewers can get Mears to stop hanging his breaking balls, he will be a monster.

I don't know anything about him other than what I've learned post-trade. But they sure seemed to be looking for either that or a changeup w/two strikes. So far so good. Nice sequencing & no fooling around the edges with (at the time) a 3-run lead.

Felt like an absolutely massive win tonight. A split in the next two games and I’m happy with the home-stand turn around. 7 game lead heading into the trade deadline, will be very interesting to see how Arnold perceives his team. Their quality run differential tells me they have a chance to be special.

Hader is kind of poopy

I don’t know about that. While his homer per 9 are up this year, his walks per 9 are down. Still a WHIP of 1.00. Perhaps he’s simply been unlucky with the gofer ball.

Nope all but two of the HR's he has given up have been in the strike zone and 3 of them have been over the heart of the plate.  Well 5 if you include the low middle ones.  These are all against RHB's also so the up and in and down and in are probably your unlucky ones especially the down and in one.

Sorry but this July's hitting show Chourio has given and a 10yr cheapened contract make him the #1 in trade value.  Who has a contract in the article better than Chourio? What's stopping Chourio from not being as good/better than the July he's having?

Can only imagine what kind of contract Chourio would have received if they took a wait and see approach on an extension with him. Don't care about his trade value, the Brewers have him for his twenties and somebody gets to overpay for his thirties.
