The sad truth is, I think most of us knew that a healthy Corbin Burnes, Brandon Woodruff, and Freddy Peralta was the best Brewer rotation we would see in our lifetimes. We knew how good we had it, and we knew it wouldn't last forever.

The annual pre-ASB swoon shrunk the Brewers division lead to 3.5 games over STL on July 13th.

The last time a team was closer to them in first place was when the Cubs were 2.5 back on May 24th,

They’ve had a five plus game lead for most of the last two months now.

A big part of that is for the season as a whole they have lost two games in a row twelve times. In the third game following those dozen instances they are 5 W - 7 L.

In the fourth game after their seven three game losing streaks they are 7 W - 0 L.

They say basketball is a game of runs, but baseball is a 162 game season of streaks.

(5) two-game and (7) three-game losing streaks (31 total losses) all year versus (8) two-game, (4) three-game, (3) four-game and (2) five-game winning streaks (50 total wins) on the season.

They’ve been a lot better at stacking wins than losses.

Outside of an 11 W - 12 L stretch when Yelich went down the first time and their 3 W - 7 L swoon into the break they have gone 48 W - 28 L over the remaining 70% of their schedule up until now.

Of course another big reason the Brewers have maintained their division lead while going 26-24 in their last 50 games (likely 26-25 after today) is that none of the other division teams has put together a run. Things would look a lot different if someone put together a stretch like the Mets (34-16) or DBacks (32-19) has during this period.

I’m getting a chuckle out of your last paragraph in light of the flak I took the other day for what some thought was “cherry picking” because  of the date I chose to break the Brewers season into two pots of consecutive games. Picking out the bad stretches is true cherry picking.

At least I don’t feel like I’m missing anything now that Spectrum has lost the picture, at least in my area.

Doesn't mean we have to have a rotation this bad. Freddy is a good three and everyone else is a five or long reliever.

Perception seems to be that we've struggled since the AS break. Yet our record since the break is 7-5.

I'm guilty of it too, watch us play a little, scoreboard watch, lose 2 games to the Cardinals in 2 days and thinking "welp, we're well on our way to blowing this division."

Look up at the standings 2 days later, and hmm, odd, we have the biggest divisional lead in MLB.

Feels like it's gone that way all season.

Multiple things can be true. They can be playing poorly and still win games.  I think a third thing is true in that the rest of the division isn't all that good either.  The question is whether the inconsistent play and lack of any meaningful additions will catch up with them.

I think the perception about the Brewers not playing well goes back to the poor stretch before the break.

Having an 11-13 July while losing  four straight home series, including to the woeful Marlins and Nats is going to leave a sour taste.

Maybe we should say that, except for all those games they lost, the Brewers are doing pretty well.

To bad we have to here Vinny Rottino's voice, its worse with no picture. He is an excessive prim bootlicker.

If anyone expected anything other than what we have gotten from guys like Civale, Keuchel, and Montas, I'm not sure what world you are living in.

We signed one guy for $1,  and probably overpaid in prospects for the other two.

They are what they are.  Bottom of the barrel guys who we were hoping and praying would be able to eat some innings, and hold it together.

If Civale and Montas were all we were going to do at the deadline, then why bother at all?  (Yes, I know we got Mears too)  Seriously, what did we really do to improve our playoff chances?

Meh, it is what it is.

It's like my father always said to me, he said to me, "it's always something. If it isn't one thing--it's another!  It's always something."

Mitchell needs to be an everyday player in my view.

Yes, if he can stay healthy, he is injury prone, that is the only reason he hasn't been in there all the time.

Picture came back on at 5pm, they only had enough money in the budget for 1/2 the game today.

Mine came back too but it’s still balky.

Arnold did absolutely nothing to improve the team or our playoff chances and gave up good minor league talent to do it.

If the 2024 Brewer season was a reality TV show, it would definitely end with Murphy proposing to Jake Bauers at the end of the season.
