Yeah, count me in really hoping the Braves win for a bunch of reasons. I'm not all that scared of facing Gallen, Kelly, and Pfaadt, but the Mets rotation is probably the same as that lineup, plus the bullpen fatigue, plus the offense, though hot, isn't quite as scary as the Dbacks.

No easy matchups either way, but I feel more optimistic than last year.

I mean there is really no excuse not to beat the Mets if it's the Mets. You're facing an exhausted team. You've got homefield, and at this point, you've been to the playoffs, numerous overall times over the last decade, this isn't a new experience.

Obviously it's baseball and things happen, so who knows for sure especially in a 3 game series, and considering the preseason expectations it wouldn't make the season a failure, but it would be a pretty big disappointment to not advance.

Anything can happen but id much rather face the Mets. I'd rather the Dbacks got ko'd. Their lineup is a nightmare.

I think we can beat either team, but yeah on paper I think our only notable advantage over the Dbacks is pitching depth which in a 3 game series becomes a lot less important. I think we have an edge in defense and baserunning but they have such a monster advantage in hitting.

You said it in your last paragraph……..it’s baseball…….in a 3 game series nothing should surprise any of us……..we will be a slight favorite at best……so flip a coin.

Hope we win but I have no idea how it will play out……and I’m disappointed anytime the season is over when they don’t make the WS……which has been every year but once in my lifetime.

Alright, Mets it is!

We all know the playoffs involve randomness and a lot of it. What I will say is that circumstances have given this team a better than average playoff opportunity.

Mets will be on adrenaline. Those kinds of teams are dangerous. Let's match their intensity and get to a division series. 13 wins to go.

Well.   Let’s hope all that rooting for the Mets doesn’t bite us in the rear end

Arizona .     Another >90% postseason chance who didn’t make it.       I think our miracle comeback game finished them off

Looking back at that that was such a monster comeback and the Dbacks will probably be seeing that game in their sleep for a while.

We had no control over the outcome, so I don't think it can.

The Mets somewhat did, and they clearly preferred coming here versus San Diego, so let's hope that comes back to bite them.

We need the first one.

Wonder what the series odds look like winning the first one versus losing the first one.

It would be ATL to SD, but still a difference.

If the Mets would’ve won the 2nd game they would’ve went to SD…. That’s what I was referring to.

Well, looking at it from a straight probability standpoint, assuming all outcomes are a 50/50 chance, you have a 25% chance of winning the series if you drop Game 1, and a 75% chance if you win game 1.

So, while you're not totally dead in the water if you don't win Game 1, it's definitely a big deal. Obviously the odds aren't exactly that and there are many variables in play, but it gives you an idea.

Don't the Mets have like a 340 million dollar payroll? Tigers, Brewers, Royals, Guardians are the "feel good stories" yep.

Yup, just like the Cubbies payroll.

Just noticed the Brewers are favored in Las Vegas, -1  1/2 runs.

We're talking about two pretty good teams so it'll still come down to how we perform. But I'll always prefer to play the team that just played a DH the day before & had to endure two plane trips in as many days over a group that was able to rest up since Sunday. And if it had been Arizona, they would've had that emotional bump that comes with a 'reprieve from the governor' type scenario had there been a DH sweep on Monday. This outcome guarantees nothing, but I'm fine with it.
