I watched end of first Q and all of 2nd Q. Bucks had a lot of issues stopping the dribble drive. I know Dame isn't all that good on D but it wasn't just him. Guys were blowing past the guards like they weren't even there. And if Giannis isn't in there they don't have much down low other than Brook. Stats may prove me wrong but Brook doesn't seem like the rim protector he once was.

AJ Green actually looked pretty good on D.

Small early season samples and all that, but Brook is at +0.8 pts/100 on defense so far this year after being -6.2 last year and -8.5 two years ago so stats prove you right.

AJG is -4.2 pts/100 on defense so far this year and AJJ is at -6.4 so the young guys have been making a big impact on that end of the floor along with AJG rocking a nifty .697 TS% shooting the ball.

I think part of Brook's issues on D are that teams are attacking him differently.  They are doing a better job of pulling him out farther from the rim or if he stays low, being able to shoot from deep.  Not that they didn't do that in the past... but it seems like a more concentrated effort to do that when he is in the game now.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

I feel like it's been since our playoff match-up in our championship season that I've watched a game involving the hawks, but Trae Young kinda looks like a hobo now and the contrast of his looks from the last time I've seen him is strong.

Bucks move on to the Championship Game of the Emirates Cup with a 110-102 win over Atlanta.

Giannis and Brook combined for an efficient 48 points making 17 of 25 FGAs. Also had six blocks between them.

Lillard with a not so efficient 25 on 8 for 21 shooting, but hit the game sealing bucket at the end in typical Dame fashion.

After posting positive marks for a +23 on/off in his first three games back Khris had his first clunker with a -5 today on 2 of 7 shooting with 3 turnovers.

AJJ did a little of everything with 5 PTS | 7 REBS | 4 AST | 2 STL and pesky defense of Trae Young.

AJG drained three of six from deep and the Bucks were +6 in his 19 minutes on the floor.

So if I’m not mistaken, Tuesday’s game will not count in the regular season standings.

You are correct.

The Championship will not be counted as a regular-season game, meaning that the game will not count toward a team’s regular-season record, and a player’s or team’s performance will not count toward regular-season statistics.

Will be interesting to see if the game tomorrow is treated more like an All-Star Game or really trying to win with the only thing at stake another $300,000 which isn't that much for star NBA players and less than star players make per game.

It depends on how they feel about the title.  LeBron put a lot of effort in for last year's NBA cup and there's no way the money mattered to him.

Nevada is a no-income-tax state.  That might help.

OKC are a best in the West 20 W - 5 L. Their +12.1 netRtg is tops in the Association. They were on a five game win streak and had won nine of their last ten.

No matter, your 2024 Emirates Cup Champions are the old washed up Doc Rivers coached Milwaukee Bucks.

Impressive, even if it is a glorified exhibition game.

I dunno. they looked like they were playing pretty hard to me  300K is a lot of money to most of those dudes. Or maybe that's not what you meant?

For guys like Giannis and Lillard it is highly insignificant.

For nearly half the roster making about 2 million or less, it is very significant.

If you make $80,000 per year, just for hypothetical example, it would be akin to an unexpected end of year bonus of $12,000.

I like that they eschewed the champaign celebration.

First, the prize for winning the Cup was just shy of $515,000 per player with one exception.

Guard Ryan Rollins is currently with the Bucks on a 10 day contract, by rule he will only receive half of that prize (approx $257K) since he's not on a fully guaranteed contract. Even half the prize money still ends up representing close to 50% of his total salary for the season.

Dame was asked about the prize money afterwards and this was his answer (video should start around the 7:15 mark):

Still probably going to hang a banner in Fiserv though.

No, meant it was an impressive victory even if it were to be claimed "it doesn't count" blah blah.  Agreed that both teams played like they cared about winning.

Probably get a call from the league office about not pouring champaign everywhere

My first thought on passing on the champagne was that the league probably preferred that they didn’t do that because the optics of that are that this is less of a big deal than they want it to be.
