What did Matt Chapman sign for with the Giants last year?    2 years 60 million.  Then opt out one year.  Any chance the brewers could do the same type of deal with Bregman if no one meets his demands?

The difference with Chapman and Bregman is that the market was very cold for Chapman. There are multiple teams interested in Alex according to the reports.

However unlikely, Alex Bregman as a Brewer in 2025 is a super exciting idea.

I don't know who the Bergman guy is. ;-)

Seventh Seal is iconic, the sentimentality of Wild Strawberries probably makes it his most accessible work, Persona is my personal favourite, Hour of the Wolf if you’re looking for something a little more out there, The Magician has a simple set up and is, dare I say, jaunty - which one doesn’t really expect going into an Ingmar flick.

That’s as far as I’ve gotten with his oeuvre though.

Terrific director. Only slight issue I could see is that he's been dead for 15 years. Even if the pitching lab resurrects him, he'd be well over 100. Though he also wouldn't have been putting any strain on his shoulder or UCL ligaments during his time in the grave, so that could be a plus.

Cubs remain a longshot for Bregman. That means the two-time All Star's list is likely down to just three American League franchises: the Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers and Toronto Blue Jays.

Houston met with free-agent infielder Jorge Polanco in recent days, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman, marking the first reported non-Bregman meeting for the Astros in the current free-agent cycle.

A switch-hitting third and second baseman by trade, Polanco disapointed in 2024 with an OPS+ seven-percent below league average and just 1.3 Wins Above Replacement across 118 games. A larger sample suggests Polanco can be a versatile impact bat near the top of Houston's lineup. Polanco smacked 134 extra-base hits across three seasons in Minnesota from 2021-23, producing an OPS+ 20 percent above league average. Perhaps most notably, a change of scenery could do wonders for Polanco at the plate, as The Athletic's Eno Sarris noted rather insightfully last month.

Polanco isn't a Bregman-level player. He's also still a starting-caliber piece, one who should check in at no more than a one-to-two-year deal around $10 million per season. The Astros will pursue Bregman as far as owner Jim Crane's wallet allows. Don't expect a retaliatory spending spree if the franchise's leader walks. Houston, frankly, has one path to a winning offseason. If Bregman leaves, signing Polanco is a worthwhile (and sensible) start at picking up the pieces.

Where would be the best place for him to land?  And potentially set off moves that would aid the brewers.

Detroit, Philly, or Boston.

I think when it's all said and done, he'll end up in Boston. Probably on a shorter deal. Maybe 2-3yrs tops.

I would then like to see the Brewers swoop in  and make a deal for Tristan Casas, who might be available with Devers moving across the diamond. I think putting Bregman at 2B would make sense since he’s much better defensively than Devers plus they have Campbell almost ready for things at 2B and Grissom also

Not sure what they would do with Hoskins then. Doubt anyone would want to pay what he's owed this year.

Send some money with him or DH mostly.   Both are gross.  Still think the best play is probably moving Turang to SS or finding a SS either way it keeps Ortiz at 3rd.

Can the brewers ask for Hamilton back :).

If the Brewers were going to swoop in with a big move, I'd rather they just sign Bregman.  That would fill the glaring opening in the IF and not double-stack starter-types at 1B.

Sending $$ with him just isn't something I can see MA doing at all. Also, I'm not sure how moving a Platinum Glove winner off 2nd base, would be a smart thing to do. Ortiz is a SS by trade.

The difference between the two is Casas would be cost-controlled and Bregman, even on an opt-out type deal, will be more $ than the Brewers are willing to spend. And I’m not sure starters are being double-stacked with one at 1B and one at DH.

There's a lot of corner spots in flux in MLB based on rumors. A lot could change before position players report. We've been lulled into thinking the Brewers were done, but...

I think Bregman ends up in Detriot on a 1 year with options. I think the Red Sox go with Devers at 3rd and trade for Arenado at the deadline. In that scenario Jace Jung would likely be the blocked player we could go after. Maybe like Luke Adams and Elvis Peguero for Jung.
