Going to be interesting when Gasser and Cortes are both available. 6 man rotation for August/September seems plausible. The Miz ride has been fun but they’re going to need to tread lightly with his arm the rest of the way.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't know that I have expectations that Gasser will help the big league club this year as a starter?... Especially not in August. I'm hopeful for after, just not expecting. Using Woodruff as an example,  (I know he had an odd set back or two) ... Woody threw 42 minor league innings over 10 appearances before being back. Even if we cut that in half and say RG will make 5 starts ... That is a full month from now, We are almost to September and that is also assuming he is as effective as when we saw him last.

Who knows! Cortes I'm expecting to be ready and to be shoved back into the log jam... Gasser is an unknown to me.

My guess is that after the Cubs series next week Miz gets sent down and put on the AAA "Development List" to skip a start and Cortes takes his spot in the rotation.   Miz will be back in the rotation for the 5-game set against the Cubs starting 8/15.

Then, with no off days from 8/15 to 9/1, they could go 6-man.  They'll get another arm for the DH against the Cubs on 8/18, but that will surely be a starter (Myers/Henderson/Patrick).

In Hogg's article about Cortes today he made it clear that Murphy said Misiorowski is not being optioned and they will manage his innings at the MLB level. Hogg characterized it as not on the table.

Maybe I’m reading between the lines too much but that seems to be code for prepping to dial him back to a reliever role, or at least a piggyback role.

That’s really the only way to manage his innings while keeping him up the whole time. There’s no point in keeping him on the 26 if you’re going to shut him down for long periods in between starts. That would just be a waste of a roster spot.

I will predict that it will be a 5-man rotation, but with 3 piggy-backs (Hall, Ashby, Cortes). You can mitigate innings with your right-handed rotation, particularly Misiorowski and the guys coming back, like Big Woo and Myers.

I don't think they want to trade from this depth, as what you'd get in return isn't worth giving up the depth. Cortes and Quintana are super-valuable, in this way, and for this team. In the event of injury or poor performance, they've got options. And speaking of options, they can stash a number of guys in AAA.

I have this feeling that Myers is going to be big for the Crew down the stretch.

Turns out Mears wrenched his back on his last warmup pitch yesterday, but decided to pitch through it???  I get that players never like to come out, but that was not the time to be a hero.  I've never been completely sold on Mears as a high leverage guy.  He wasn't very good down the stretch last year and with the race heating up this season, is he really all that reliable?

That brings me to Myers.  Could he be an asset as a late inning reliever?

I feel like this is as good as thread as anybody discuss Contreras' finger.  I don't remember when he was initially injured, but with the recent news that it would require surgery and he would be out the year if he went that route concerning for next year?  Just doing a quick Google search says it might have been something that happened last year.  If he didn't do surgery last off season will he do it this offseason?  If he does will he miss the beginning of next season?  This whole thing is a big mess and is part of a concerning developing pattern where the players are trying to play through injuries and seemingly hurting the team more than if they just said something right away.

Remember what Yoda said:

Well, Chourio pulls his hammy tonight.  It wasn’t bad—reminded me of Frelick’s from a couple weeks ago.

He’s young, but I would anticipate a day off tomorrow, and then the scheduled day of Thursday before the Brewers decide to do something.

As someone who had an oblique strain like a decade ago (appeared while golfing, which ended my round immediately), I have no idea how you could be a professional pitcher with that. I could barely find a comfortable position to just breathe. And then, it left, and hasn't reappeared.

Remind me...

Am I correct that Rhys can stay on the rehab assignment for 30 days?

What are the options after the 30 days...He comes up (with the added +1 roster spot in September)?  or They DFA him at that time?

I believe that is correct……doubt they are planning to DFA him but it would be the other option.
