I am guessing the Brewers are looking to see if they have the answer at 3b within the organization.

If not, I think you see the crew looking to cycle through some AAAA/dumpster type guys before the trade deadline.

If they are going to do this hopefully play Durbin every day for the most part with Capra on the bench with an occasional start and defensive replacement later in the game. Got an extra year of service by waiting to call up Durbin.

I imagine that was part of the decision process here. Probably same with Henderson. I would imagine we will see Craig Yoho and perhaps even Jacob Misiorowski relatively soon as well.

Kind of interesting looking at the worst teams 3B production to start the year on the FanGraphs positional leaderboards…

30th (PHI | -0.7 WAR)
Alec Bohm hitting 167/178/194 (3 wRC+)

29th (MIL | -0.6 WAR)
hey, look ma, that’s us.

28th (MIN | -0.5 WAR)
Brooks Lee just came off the IL four days ago so should be moving up

27th (NYM | -0.3 WAR)
Vientos (35 wRC+) has crashed early so they’ve started mixing Baty in the last couple days

26th (CHC | -0.3 WAR)
Matt Shaw (47 wRC+) was just optioned himself

25th (CIN | -0.2 WAR)
paying Jeimer Candelario $15M for a 30 wRC+

Even the mighty Dodgers (78 wRC+ | -0.1 WAR) have gotten zilch from the hot corner in the early going.

I would be surprised to see Misiorowski this year.

He’s 23 and other than limiting walks, what else is there for him to work on? He has enough to be a reliever now, I imagine.

I appreciate the walk rate is exceptionally poor but he still allows very few baserunners

He had a poor outing yesterday…….i don’t think they trust him yet……and they have other bullpen guys that are pitching pretty well.

Yoho I can certainly see but no reason to push Miz…..we have good leverage guys in Mears, Koenig, and Uribe.

Hudson,Payamps and Alexander are iffy but we have guys in our current rotation that can slide in for them when Myers and Woody return. Not to.mention when Ashby and Hall are ready.

Other than walks? He can't be doing that in the bigs, especially as a reliever. He may not have allowed many baserunners in AAA, but it's a massive leap as you know from AAA to the major league.

I hope they let him develop and give him a chance at real success, rather than bring him up too soon and watch him founder. That doesn't help him or the team.

Is Turang incapable of playing SS this season to allow Ortiz to play 3B and Durbin at 2B?

Believe that was the "preferred" alignment towards the end of spring training but Turang started experiencing some shoulder soreness so they switched him back to 2B for the shorter throws.

When leading, I think Capra as a defensive replacement is going to be a regular thing. Outside of a hiccup or two, the defense at 3B has been very solid, so this is a roll of the dice in that regard. I guess you can say that they're going from a R/L platoon to an offense/defense one.

I'm just glad that as this whole thing unfolded going back to March, they never implemented the idea of Turang moving to SS.

I haven't had the opportunity to watch any milb games yet this year.  For some poster who's watched a fair share of Nashville, how has Durbin's defense looked at 3B this spring?

Do we think Turang’s shoulder is better now? Try Durbin at 3B, I suppose. Then move Durbin to 2B as a fall back option.

Isn't the real story here the failure of the torpedo bat?

That was a perfect sacrifice bunt...unless you expected the bunt to clear the fence.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

I'm still struggling with the thought of moving Turang from 2nd. He was just named the best defensive player in baseball there last year. Are we sure his defense at SS is similar?

Reminds me of when the Packers had no ILB so they moved Clay and effectively eliminated their own pass rush.

If our issue is at 3B we should be solving this issue with a 3B? Not putting a bandaid on it and creating an issue elsewhere - ESPECIALLY when the band aid involves eliminating our greatest strengths defensively.

If Turang is a Gold Glove SS then fine ... I'm just leery.

Not good to be short.

Below average but not terrible (like Braun)
