86 pitches, #85 was a 99mph fastball.

Yeah he sat 98-99 on his FB in the 7th inning.

I've been underwhelemed with Yoho's 2025. His command has really taken a step back this year. Just really battling the feel for his pitches and as a guy who throws a really soft changeup/curveball feel is so important.

Agreed. It hasn't been all that good even tho the results have been palatable for the most part. He isn't dialed in and that control you speak of is a glaring current malady he is working through.

I like that the Nashville line up has the juxtaposition of a real live 'Heater' (Seigler) at the top of its order and a real live 'Ice Box' (Kahle) at the bottom of its order. AND, just like in reallll life an Ice Box can get Hawt suddenly like Kahle's random RBI poke. Sometimes baseball just makes sense in different ways.

Misiorowski did something that's never been done in the pitch tracking era. SP hitting 103 in the 6th or later.

With all the MILB roster shuffling today (Shears is back!, Wisconsin also gets Tanner Gillis!, etc.), Carolina's now left with 14 pitchers, 4 of whom threw yesterday or started on Tuesday: Chandler Welch, Travis Smith, Jesus Flores, Sam Garcia.

Boy, let's hope we don't burn through many pitchers in today's doubleheader, given that they've still got 3 more games in front of them Friday-Sunday.

And we are TBD on if Meccage is actually going to pitch this week considering he isn't listed as a starter and didn't start in his original spot.

I have been a Miz doubter.  I bought the reliever risk line, which in fairness had a fair anount of evidence behind it. I apologize to the Miz community and Miz-Americans everywhere.

103 late into a start is absurd...

103 coming from a 6'7" frame where the release point is probably close to a foot closer to the plate than other flamethrowers is beyond unfair.

You can see the physical changes Miz has had over the past couple seasons from when he was first drafted, filling that frame out just enough to the point where command of his arsenal of filth suddenly "clicks", and seemingly optimistic projections instantly become reality.

Get that arm on a plane to Milwaukee before the next time he's supposed to pitch, please.

Today’s doubleheader sees the Low-A Mudcats host Fayetteville, with Carolina leading the series 1-0. RHP Melvin Hernandez (2.33 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 7.3 K/9 in 27.0 IP) is now the 2nd-youngest pitcher in the 12-team Carolina League (a Royals’ prospect joined this level). DH Marco Dinges’ 2-homer game yesterday has him well atop the league in OPS (1.095 in 92 PAs).

A 14-pitch first inning (11 strikes, 2 Ks) for Melvin Hernandez, extended 2 pitches by an error by second baseman Di Turi. Hopefully he can cover 6 frames for this Mudcats’ team.

Now for the offense to erupt.

Not quite and eruption but Made walked, stole second, went to third on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch in the bottom half.

Just 9 pitches for Melvin in his 2nd frame (yes!), then the Mudcats load the bases on 2 walks a Di Turi single, pushing across 2 runs (sac fly, Made 2-out RBI infield single). 3-0 Carolina after 2 innings.

High-A Wisconsin trails Beloit 2 games to 0 in their home series, but have solid RHP Tyson Hardin (1.42 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 9.7 K/9 in 31.2 IP) starting tonight. 1B Blake Burke’s hit streak is now 11 games.

RHP Alexander Cornielle (1.32 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, 9.5 K/9 in 27.1 IP) has been AA Biloxi’s top starting pitcher in this early season and he gets the chance to lead them to a 2-1 series lead at Montgomery. 1B Luke Adams has homered in back-to-back games and has a 14-game on-base streak.

After successfully peppering the zone thru 3 scoreless frames (40 pitches, 31 strikes), Hernandez conceded 2 runs on 4 hits in the 4th inning, with 2 outs fortunately occurring on the bases (player trying to stretch a single; caught stealing).

Mudcats now lead only 3-2, entering the 5th. Melvin is at 60 pitches thru 4.

Payne walked for the third time. went to third base on a Filippo Di Turi single, then scored on a Luis Lameda single to give Carolina a 4-2 lead bottom six.

Nice to see Hernandez settle back in after the rocky fourth. He has just been flat out solid this year considering he is the second youngest pitcher in A ball.

6 IP and needing only 81 pitches is great. 7K to 0 BB is even better.  Especially since he is so young.

I will have to watch him pitch again, but from what I saw earlier this year he has a lot of upper body and arm action and if he gets more lower body into his pitching he could have more velocity I would think, but I am far from an expert.

Hernandez back out for the seventh and goes F9, 6-3, single on his 90th pitch.

Comes back and strikes out the next batter for a seven inning, 94 pitch complete game.
