Nevermind. Why did I think anything different would happen there.

Still seems like he's got a loop in his swing that he didn't have most of last year.

Remember his bat path being much flatter.

If there's one person on this team that needs to turn things around, it's Chourio. He's the best prospect we've had since Braun and the long term future of this team. Not only is he slumping hard, his at bats aren't even good.

Why wouldn’t teams simply keep pitching around Contreras and Hoskins and take their chances making the other 7 beat them. It’s a recipe for success so far this year.

Kinda had a feeling after the save from Chourio yesterday Mears' magic reserves might be running a bit low.  Not that Priester should have even started the inning.

Murphy really has a poor feel for handling pitching staffs.

Honestly you could have a magic 8 Ball and he probably be just as accurate.

He was only at 50 pitches.  He absolutely should have started the inning.

I was just going to say something to the same effect. Yesterday Mears gave up a ringing double and the saved home run.

You have to wonder if he is showing the sign of heavy usage. There are several others at risk of the same.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

In this case it was less about pitch count and more about the fact that everything coming off the bat was a rocket including one off his glove.

He was throwing some pretty fat ones and getting away with it.

You'll burn your bullpen out if you panic every time a starter starts giving up some hard contact.  The bullpen is at risk of showing signs of overusage.
