Brewers at Braves; Tuesday, August 5 @ 6:15 p.m.: Freddy Peralta (3.08 ERA, 3.81 FIP) vs. Joey Wentz (5.02 ERA, 4.28 FIP)

It’s got to be difficult to be a manager when you have a 5 run lead and a reliever struggling to throw strikes.

The knee jerk reaction is to not run him out there again but you also want to manage the workload for your high leverage guys.

Good job by Ashby to throw strikes in the 8th…..his ball just moves so much he can just lose it at anytime.

I mean I get watching him can be eye rolling... but big deep breath here friends.

Freddy is top 20 in the league in ERA (which is now flirting to go below 3). He is top 20 in SO. He is top 20 in opponents BA against. He definitely walks guys (11th) but because no one hits him his WHIP is still top 20 in baseball. Wins are a whatever stat but he leads the league in them and has an outside chance of being the first 20 game winner for Milwaukee since the Raegan administration...

... and he is making $8 million dollars a year...

.. and he doesn't get hurt.

Where else are you going to find a pitcher under 30 who will put up that stat line and only cost you that much who will take the ball every 5th day? (BTW, tied for 23rd in MLB in innings pitched coming into tonight)

We have been blessed this year with such great pitching that we are allowing ourselves to pick him apart when he has been a rock for us. He was the MVP of the team through the first two months outside of MAYBE Sal.

Monster truck type haul for him in the off season only ... otherwise he is here to try for the repeat and we trade him during or give him a QO after the year.

Freddy is frustrating but he is awesome.

You and your facts.

It’s not that there’s anything wrong with him.

It’s just historical precedent in how we operate. We will move on a year early rather than get only the QO pick in return.

It won’t be a monster truck haul. It will be something that is underwhelming to us but they like (see Burnes, Corbin).

Saying he's been struggling lately is not a hot take. That's undeniable. That's the thing I always say about stats. You can make them say anything you want.

Except we didn't do that with Willy Adames

That was not a fun game to watch, but the BREWERS WIN! Great play by Anderson to end it. Let's get a four-game lead over the Cubs tonight and get the sweep tomorrow against Strider!

Did it with Burnes. Did it with Hader. Did it with Williams. Going back further, did it with Gallardo.

Position players are a little different.

We have a plethora of SP options though and that wasn't the case with SS options.

Agreed. Apples to oranges.

That's the most frustrating 7-2 Brewers win I've ever seen.

Yep, but when all the Brewers give us to gripe abouts since the trade deadline is wins, I guess we have to find negatives in hard to reach places
