Either Patrick or Miz held back in case of extras?

Not a chance the Miz gets held back for extras.  This kid is going t pitch today, and probably in a bright lights situation.  Not a chance Murphy has the capability of holding him back.

I wouldn't hold Patrick back either.  He needs to pitch today for us to have a chance, same thing with GOOD Miz.  If we get bad Miz, things will go South quickly.

If it's close, you kind of have to hold someone back just in case. No ghost runner; you might have to cover 5-6 innings.

We KNOW Megill is opening, we know Uribe can go more than one. I think you're right that Miz is going to work tonite, and if he's off Patrick might be next. But you have three LHPs available as well.

Priester could also be the guy held back.

I agree might see Priester after Megill and then Miz. Patrick might be after him. Maybe Quintana is held back in case it goes into extra innings will be very interesting to see how the lineup and pitching staff are put together tonight.

Nice. Major League is on TBS right before the Brewers! 😃

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Another case of Murphy trying to be too smart by half.  Unless Quintana told Murphy he’s unavailable, this is just absurd to have a two-pitch RHP starting this game.  The “Oh then you have three LHP’s to use later in the game” 4D chess is what got them into this mess in the first place.  Start Chad Patrick if you’re not going with Quintana.  This has crooked inning written all over it and it’s 100% on the manager.

Disagree. He’s going get one inning and it’s imperative to start the game strong. I love this decision. Would have loved Uribe or Patrick too.

You have way more confidence in Megill getting a clean inning through the top of the Cubs’ order than I do.

The one thing the cubs haven’t done in this series is hit high velo. I think it’s worth a shot to roll out the 6 hard throwers tonight

I mean… by design, your highest leverage relievers are better than your best starting pitchers. Just in shorter spurts. We’re just desperately trying to have a clean start and go from there. I don’t know what being a two pitch pitcher has to do with anything. Most high leverage relievers are.

Don’t get me wrong, it could go bad. But anyone could. We’ve used our best starting pitcher twice, our second best starting pitcher once, and our best lefty reliever once. Nothing has worked.

I just moved a double date with our older son & his wife off of Tuesday night since the NLCS game two is scheduled for that night … hopefully in Milwaukee 🤞

I admit to being a sports pessimist with my teams … but I’m hopeful that Milwaukee wins this elimination game against the rival Cubs & advances to play the Dodgers

i can’t imagine how painful it would be to see Chicago & Coun$ell beat the Brewers in Milwaukee tonight … I may not sleep a wink if that happens … the offseason would be brutal

I probably will not sleep at all tonight regardless, it’s just a matter of whether it will be from exhilaration or somber depression.

I'm hoping this quote becomes a punchline like "We want the ball and we're going to score".

Not many teams can survive late-season injuries to most of their starters.

Quintana is now a 50ish pitch pitcher thanks to injury. Henderson injury was big. And of course the Woodruff injury. The team only has 2 fully stretched-out starters and now there’s even a question with Peralta and his hip.

How is this Murphy’s fault?

Myers would be a better option but he was not added to the playoff roster

He performed well in playoff pressure last year

i hope Misiorowski pitches his best game of the season tonight - I just hate that our season depends on someone who is so young, inexperienced, & emotional
