this would be the second worst since My Crew lost to STL in 1982

They lost 3 in a row the last week of the season.

Thought this was humorous.   How Cubs fans view the Brewers:

(please excuse the f-bombs, but they play an important part of the narrative here)

I appreciate him getting the name of the stadium correct.

Before that, it was the three-game sweep at Texas (SEP 8–10).

So it's been awhile since they lost three games in a row where they were using the roster more like games where the result truly mattered.

LOL... Cubs fans are just as pressed. They had one reprieve in '16, but they haven't exactly been clutch in the post-season the last 30 years themselves.

I mean the obvious one prior to that … they lost 3 games in a row to the Cubs in August.

I can’t believe our season continuing depends on an up & down, talented but inconsistent rookie flame thrower. This seems to be managerial malpractice.

Not many teams can survive late-season injuries to most of their starters.

Quintana is now a 50ish pitch pitcher thanks to injury. Henderson injury was big. And of course the Woodruff injury. The team only has 2 fully stretched-out starters and now there’s even a question with Peralta and his hip.

How is this Murphy’s fault?

Just going to pray things go well tonight. I'll miss the first 60-90 minutes, I'm sure I'll know what's happening, but, I'm OK with missing it if things go off the tracks early on. Hoping for the best, but have had a couple days to brace for the worst.

Today is a new day, hopefully the players are looser than we are...

Maybe Uecker will have the final say when all is said and done?

It's also the frustration of a short playoff series - Brewers have lost the last two games largely due to 3 total swings of the bat from the Cub side of things, which are exponentially magnified because the Brewer bats have gone cold.  Anything can happen in a winner take series game, so hopefully randomness goes in the Brewers favor and a few guys we're crapping on most of this last week come up big tomorrow night.

Our best 97 win season is completely meaningless if we don't have championship-level play in Milwaukee tonight, especially in the killer first inning.

Brewers 2025 having THREE different 8+ game winning streaks and only TWO, 3 game losings streaks.  It would really suck to have our third in the playoffs.

I've heard people speculate that Brewers-Cubs fans could be split 50-50 at the game tonight.  Hopefully that is just a dramatic estimate.

This Wrigley North thing is so overblown. Since 2018 we have a 35-23 record over the Cubs at home.

Mark Tauscher said home field advantage in the decision game tonight is so huge, normal sports people cannot even grasp or comprehend it.  Don't sell your tickets for profit.

Counsell: “We’re going to L.A after Milwaukee.

Murphy: “To be in the position we're in, there's no validation. I just want to do this very badly. I don't think it validates -- what does that mean? Are we not good because we didn't win a playoff series after we got a bye in the first round by having the best record in the league? That's got to count for something. But I'm not going to think about that. I'm just going to plan for [Saturday] and plan on winning.”

I don’t know. Maybe I am reading too much into this. There’s nothing inherently wrong with what Murphy said, but I wish he had just said they are going to win and left it at that. It feels like one guy is very confident and the other is leaving himself an out if things go south tonight.

Or L.A. Coming to Milwaukee.

I think I’d go with Ashby again as the starter. No, it didn’t work the first time, but Ashby is still a very reliable pitcher, and I hope he learned something from the first experience in this high-pressure situation. If he can give us two or three, that would be a big boost.

It tracks with the message from the owner, the organizational philosophy and the majority of the fan base.  Just be good during he season and whatever happens in the playoffs, happens.

I disagree.  Yes, we play the game to win the WS, but each year 29 teams leave disappointed.

The regular season was enjoyable.  Winning the Division when everyone thought Chicago would take it was wonderful.  The hot streak was incredible.  Woody coming back was awesome (until his injury again :classic_sad:).  Losing tonight would tarnish it, but not diminish my enjoyment of the season.

Having said that... this isn't the end.  This team fights and doesn't give up (like many of their fans here have).  We end tonight with a WIN and keep going.

The playoffs are hard.  We play the best of the best.  It will never be a blowout because you don't get this far by giving up.

This makes it hard on our nerves, but that is part of the excitement.  The hardest games (emotional rollercoasters) were the ones where the Packers won the SB (and maybe the 1 loss) and the Bucks winning the NBA championship, but man was it worth it.

Buck up, be strong, cheer hard, and may we forever hear Uecker's "Get up, Get up, and Get out of here!" as our battle cry for victory.

No way I would Go with Ashby again. Absolutely No way!

Not with a 6.23 postseason 2025 ERA and a 9.00 Postseason Career ERA.  He is a choker anyone should be able to spot that. Those are choker stats. Not up for the job at all IMHO.

Pomeranz destroys lefties. Leading Yelich off tonight would be complete malpractice, and I would not be opposed to keeping him, Turang, or Frelick out of the initial starting lineup, with the intent to add them after the first time through the order. Frelick and Turang should not be hitting in the top 5 if they are starting.

I would lead Chourio off following by Contreras and Vaughn.

I don't think I'd go with Ashby.  He just hasn't been sharp his last couple of outings, why continue going to a dry well?  If he isn't on his game, and we start out in the hole yet again in the first inning, that could be the final nail in the coffin.  Ashby, right now, is way to risky for my liking, especially starting the game, which has been pure hell the first 4 games.

I do agree the regular season was great.  Winning the Division when everyone thought Chicago would take it was greater but we have to hit and hit Pomeranz tonight.  Just please go with our A-Team lineup not anything else and let the cards fall as they may.
