I'm all in for this team.

Gotta wake up the bats. We need August Yelich to show up.

I think Quintana & Miz are the best options the next two days AFA bulk innings are concerned, and I don't like the idea of being swept without giving them the ball. So for me Q tomorrow for as long as he can keep us in the game, and Miz on Friday (after a probable opener). My only deviation would be if Quintana has to be removed after somethng like 2 innings, then you might roll with Miz & game four becomes a fire drill.

Koenig has been the one good reliever Murphy has stayed away from for the most part this series; I'm wondering if maybe he goes multiple innings in this one?

Eh. I pretty much know what's coming here but when I and many others said, beat the Cubs and it's a good season, I at least meant it. It's been a good season. Memorable group of players. Probably a top 4 Brewers season of my lifetime. '08, '11, '18, '25. Feeling it wind down is a bummer but if this is it, we extended the season to October 17ish, which is more than I can reasonably expect.

So, I feel content, and if we win any games here, just a bonus.

Expecting a good bounce back win.... expecting.  Maybe that's ridiculous but the season has been ridiculously good so far.  Just this win would get us believing again collectively.  I mean, get 2 of 3 here and we are back home for GAME 6 and 7.  It still seems possible.

Brewers groundhog day scenario...

1. Get Picked to finish third in division and miss playoffs
2. Surprise the experts by playing "over our heads"
3. Make no significant trade for offensive help at the deadline, in spite of the "deep minor league"
4. Suddenly can't hit in a playoff series
5. Season ends
6. Every great Brewers player is rumored to be traded.
7. Brewers trade one of them for a couple of prospects, or they let a quality player go in FA
8. Brewers major FA acquisition is someone else's platoon player. And another mid relief guy.
9. But the future is bright!
10....and repeat.

Sorry boys, in a dark place. I am jut posting my dark thoughts hoping we spring back. I really pray that we can break out of this and comeback.

I'm sorry I couldn't help myself. (Mods if you delete this I understand lol)

So, in the next three games, we will see Ohtani yelling to the crowd, "For ME, For MEEEE!!!!" And the crowd busts out in Brewer chants? I like it. 😉

Jose will help us win today!

Quinn will help us win!

Miz will help us start this series-comeback biz!

Yeli will not be smelly!

Brice will shorten that swing and return to being nice!

Mona will get a shot and that will help a lot!

In LA, Brew Crew will win at least two!

I think we need a few more verses here.  Maybe 26...

I feel the same, but it does sadden me a bit to realize that I may just never see a Brewer World Series in my lifetime. It was a little like being a fan of the Badger football in their best years, where you have to accept that a Rose Bowl is your championship, you’re not competing for championships. In a similar way, winning the division and beating the Cubs felt like ours.

We’ve had period where we could have broken through, 2011 in particular I think, but it just hasn’t happened. I look at teams like the Royals and think why not us, but luck and circumstance just hasn’t lined up for us.

The Dodgers are what we are except they have money, which is an enormous advantage, but their rise has really only occurred over the last 5-10 years and it’s really hurt our higher aspirations. We’re well run enough, that’s not the problem. But the Dodgers have always had money, but now they’re also a finely tuned organization, whereas going back some years ago they just had piles of money and didn’t know what to do with it. Now they’ve put more of an emphasis on scouting and development and really put some distance between them and the NL.

The impending end of the season saddens me, but the realization that these rhymes won’t be a daily part of my life again until next April does provide me with some small consolation.

edit: @treego14just to be clear this was a lighthearted tease and your rhymes don't actually negatively impact my life. You are more creative than myself. I can’t even accuse you of using ChatGPT because you’ve been doing this long before that.

I believe it. But the Brewers have to figure out a way. No excuses.

I still think they made Yamamoto look way better than he actually was by chasing out of the zone, particularly in the first few innings.

Pretty sure Snell in game 1 would have carved up anyone.

This is the counter-argument to the people that point to Milwaukee's success and say, "See, we don't need a salary cap, small markets can still compete." It's not that the big markets won't think like a small market, they will eventually. And then their resources will be that much more maximized for their own benefit and the small markets become even more minimalized. Just like the "moneyball" idea somewhat became the new status quo.

Small markets will ALWAYS have their chances, it's just that nearly EVERYTHING has to go right for them to succeed at it. Drafting, development, coaching, chemistry, etc, etc. The big markets can hedge against needing everything to go right simply by spending. The small markets can't.

They will just have to keep doing this and like any other non-juggernaut, get a bit of luck. Luck like a catastrophic injury(ies) to the Dodgers at an inopportune time, or luck like the Dodgers have to play San Diego or something in a Wild Card series and happen to lose two games, which is just easier to do than four times. I don't really accept that we'll never see the Brewers win. It may not be with this cycle of guys, but if you keep putting yourself in the tournament, you have chances. An 84-win Dbacks team just got there two years ago. It will always appear unlikely, but doesn't mean it won't happen. It's just more likely to be an Atlanta situation where we have to make it 12/15 years to win once.

If we can find a way to get a few runs early and not give them right back I like our chances. Get a W tonight and put some pressure back on LA. I know it’s hard because their lineup and rotation are what they are and we haven’t forced them to go to the pen, but just need a win tonight.

Sure, if we’re always, perennially pretty good, that’s all true. That means avoiding slipping into another dark ages era of early 90s- mid 2000s, though.

If we get a win tonight, there’s still a shot for sure. Then you’ve got them under a little pressure knowing if they don’t win tomorrow the series is going back to Milwaukee and we get HFA back.

Lose and I’m just kind of hoping we can steal one tomorrow before it’s over.

Christian Yelich’s first game in the postseason (career): 2 RBI

His next 108 PAs: 1 RBI

He has never batted in a run without the ball going over the fence, his three RBI came off his two homers.

He has 4 multi-hit games in 25 games, none of which ever occurred in the same year. He has, however, managed nearly double as many multi-strikeout games (7).

He has 4 doubles, none of which ever occurred in the same postseason.

He has 10 games in his career where he went hitless.

2 career postseason HRs. Zero since 2018

I admire you guys who are still clinging to that last ray of hope.  Seriously, I do.

To be honest though, once we lost game 2, I accepted that it's over.  The hole we dug is just too damn deep.  Pretending we can win 2 of 3 in LA when we couldn't muster up a single win at home is just a little bit on the crazy side, especially the way we are hitting.

As I said a few days ago, beating the Cubs was my world series, anything else was just pure gravy which is why I am able to accept what is about to happen.

It's been a fun season, really fun, and knocking Counsell and the Cubs from the playoffs was beautiful, but the Dodgers are just too much, and that's ok...............................for now.

The future remains bright!

Just go with a regular starting pitcher. Start Quintana, see if he can go 5 or 6. Obviously, if he falters, then you have to go to Plan B and use a bunch of relievers.

Then tomorrow, either start Miz and see how long he can go, or if you want an opener, do that and then let Miz go as long as he can.

We don't have aces as our #3 and #4 like the Dodgers do, but they are still viable starting pitchers (I'm admittedly not sold on Miz yet, but he has shown he can give you bunch of innings when he's doing well). I would just try to get as much as you can out of them so you have some arms left for Game 5 if you get that far.

Obviously the calculus changes with a loss tonight. I'd still go with my plan, but be much more willing to use everyone tomorrow.
