Game 17 - Does it really matter?: Packers @ Vikings - Sunday, Jan. 4th @ 12:00 PM

Posted

Ok, it matters because it is the Vikings - and especially since I live in MN (don't judge!).

And surprisingly, the Vikings would have a winning record if they win this game.

But is it at all realistic to simply hope for an injury-free game?  Or at least just one player out for a season-ending injury instead of multiple??

The last couple of games have been more than brutal.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Prepare for a healthy dose of Clayton Tune, Chris Brooks, Jacob Monk, Ty'Ron Hopper, Arron Mosby, and Kitan Oladapo.

I mean, we've been going that way anyway, right?

I thought we were going to rest our starters.

They have to take advantage of the week off that they "earned".  I don't want Love, Jacobs or Watson to see the field. Hope that Philly and Bears get beat up in surprise dog fights against rivals. If we are going to be a 7 this is about as good as it could work out. I don't want Philly though...

Looks like I have other things to do Sunday afternoon. LaFluer is starting Clayton Tune. I honestly don't care any longer. The 2025 season is in the rear-view mirror. Let's get the team healthy and try again later this Summer.

I mean why would you not start Tune?

Audition the backup job which is open this off-season.

Neither Willis or Love gets hurt, both of whom you may need the following week.

The season is a dead end most likely anyway, but it was well before they started Tune in a meaningless game.

They signed Desmond riddler, I think that's his name, to the practice squad.  So presumably he will be elevated to the roster, assuming that's still a thing.  Would be fun to turn him into the next Willis.

Hope we get rested up, and the Bears take everything they have to secure the 2 seed.

That’s our best bet for the WC round, I think.

You can time Tune's release with a sun dial

There might be more exciting things on television right now than watching this Packer game. Home shopping network, QVC, or perhaps something on Home and Garden.

The only motivation I see from the Packers is to avoid injury. They better show up next week. Otherwise there ought to be serious discussion about LaFleur's future. Injuries I understand but the lack of focus and inability to fix problems have been consistent issues.

I’m not saying it’s going to happen, but if the Packers get blown out by the Bears next week, they’d be one and done again and end the season on a 5 game losing streak.

Can you really hand extensions to Gute and MLF following that and look like a serious franchise?

I dont think we need to answer this hypothetical, because if the Bears win next weekend it wont be a blowout.  And then the reasoning from the front office would be all the injuries hampering the last month of their season.

As much as the move might not be what we feel is right, I think MLF is their coach next season.  I do think Gute might be in jeopardy if they lose next weekend.  But, win that 1st round playoff game and they are both getting extensions

I think Gute is pretty solidly safe. Unless there's some hall of fame level GM out there that is or becomes available.

No GM is Hall of Fame level until they get a shot.

That Elliot Wolf is looking pretty good right now.
